Mobile Photography – Portrait of an Artist Spring Challenge Results and Showcase!

We are delighted to publish our fourth Portrait of an Artist Challenge results. This was a very special challenge entirely dedicated to the loving memory of Carolyn Hall Young who seemed to grow flowers everywhere she touched, especially our hearts. So many shapes, colours and beauty in all of your submissions. A refreshing mind set for new inspiration. We are certain our dearest Carolyn would have felt very grateful and happy looking at this beautiful collection we have built on her honor.

If you are not a member of our Facebook group… we highly recommend that you join us! This is our space for sharing newsworthy information and conducting discussions (what, when, where, why and how) regarding mobile portraiture and portraiture in general.

‘Butterflies are not Insects’ ©Tuba

Inspiring and amazingly creative portrait by Tuba, absolutely representative of Spring and the feelings that come with it. The image is sweet, the palette is sober yet tender, as well as the girl’s expression. All the elements, the subject, the butterflies and flowers are in such a playful and balanced composition. This pictures speak of love and admiration for nature.

‘Firenze Spring’ ©Debout Clarisse

In this deconstructed portrait of Clarisse, the colours and intriguing elements capture our attention and ignite our curiosity to observe and appreciate all the concealed and beautiful details that make this a very interesting and mysterious Spring portrait, where the real and unreal mixed figures and colours depict a joyful and romantic mood.

Untitled ©Katie Teixeira

Katie’s faceless front pose portrait is quite mysterious and sensual. It possesses a great sense of depth, emphasised by the color processing, which added to the offering gesture of her hands make it an emotive and beautiful tribute to this collection.

‘In My Dreams’ ©before.1st.light

This is a very unique and original vision for a portrait. An allegorical Jane is floating freely and naked, surrounded by bright and colourful flowers over a pleasent sky full of stars and clouds. This is so imaginative. An artful painting made out of pure cheerful fantasy.

‘To A Life Well Lived’ ©Lorenka Campos

Lorenka presents a very creative and original image to convey her message. Everything in this  picture from the title itself, to her image in a cut out 3D feeling floating over a quiet and muted background, to the contrasting yellow daisies, make for a very amusing composition and a very felt tribute that stands interestingly enough between the figurative and the pictorial, between a prayer and a poem.
