Mobile Photography / Art New Year Resolutions 2019 From Artists Throughout The World

Share

We are delighted to publish our New Year Resolutions for 2019 from a selection of highly talented mobile photographers and artists throughout the world. As in previous years we have asked mobile photographers and artists for their New Year Resolutions with an accompanying image or video . Thank you to everyone who has contributed, they all make great reading, viewing and are inspiring, we are forever grateful to you all.

One of my New Year Resolutions this year is to accept an invitation to at least one Private View Exhibition each month. Naturally, I do not want to attend these on my own, so I am inviting our readers to contribute to each opportunity by supplying questions for the artist I am viewing. The first private view I will be attending this year, is in early February, with Tracey Emin, at her major solo exhibition entitled ‘A Fortnight of Tears’. I’ll be chatting with Emin there, so please forward any questions you would like me to ask her, on your behalf. Another of my New Year Resolutions is to try to give each individual artist more of my time. That’s no easy task but I believe so strongly in all of your work, I want to encourage and help as much as I can. So, to each and every one of you, I wish you a very Happy New Year, with much good health, wealth and success!

(Editors note: If you have not contributed to this post and you would like to, or if you have sent me your brief and I have not included it here, please let me know and I will open up this post and add it and of course you have my apologises in advance).

Many thank to the following artists for their contributions:

Cecilia Sao Thiago, Juta Jazz, Sabine Gromek, Jaime Glasser, Petyr Campos, Jean Hutter, Carol Wiebe, Robin Cohen, Stefania Pecchioli, Diane Neubauer, Clint Cline, Giulia Baita, David Hayes, Kerry Mitchell, Andrew B White, Rad Drew, Shirley Drevich, Armineh Hovanesian, Manuela Matos Monteiro, Fleur Schim, Barbara Braman, Oola Cristina, Carlos Austin, Susan Detroy, Bonobo Stone, Allyson Marie, Luis Rodriguez, Cecily Batey Caceu, Gizem Karayavus, Elodie Hunting, Anca Balaj, Christine Sobczak, Rino Rossi, Sonya Sanchez Arias, Gerry Coe, Jenny Pieters, Tricia Dewey, Margaret Waage, Paul Toussiant, Debara Splendorio, Rita Colantonio, Karen Klinedinst, Eliza Badoiu, Susan Rennie, Andrea Bigiarini, David Scott Leibowitz, Manuela Basaldella, Patricia Januszkiewciz, Gianluca Ricoveri, Deborah McMillion, Glenn Homann, Lanie Heller, Ioannis Sidiropoulos, Isabella Matthews, Sukru Mehmet Omur, Lisa Mitchell, Maurizio Zanetti, Meri Walker, Judy Wahlberg, Karen Axelrad, Jill Lian, Joyce Harkin, Jane Schultz, Catherine Caddigan, Peter Wilkin, Tuba Korhan, Diana Nicholette Jeon, Christina Chin, Elaine Taylor, Eduardo Llerandi, Cathrine Halsor, Rob Pearson-Wright, Clarisse Debout, Fiona Christian, Patricia Leeds, Michel Pretterklieber, Robi Gallardo.

Mobile Photography & Art – Maria Cecilia de São Thiago Joins Our Online Gallery

Share

We are thrilled today to annouce Award Winning Mobile Photographer and Artist, Maria Cecilia de São Thiago has accepted our invitation to join TheAppWhisperer Online Gallery! We are exhibiting sixty exclusive highly collectable prints of São Thiago’s photographs. Available to purchase for the first time on museum grade archival paper stocks in strictly limited edition print runs, of one print, per image size.

São Thiago’s photographs are exquisite and allegorical in nature. Their vitality is instrumental in pulling the viewer into a very intimate world chronicling the self and beyond.  Mysticism and spirituality have long informed São Thiago’s practice and she is refreshingly transparent about her work.  She once told me, “my photos carry in each of them everything that I have learned, what I have lived, and what I have suffered”.

We have all brushed up against the sublime feeling of wonder, with sudden realisation that we do not know. Viewing Sao Thiago’s images enable us to recreate that emotion, allowing ourselves a bit of wonder, with the potential to forget what we think we know and to revel in the immediacy of the magic of her work, holding us close, as we unravel.

Influenced by two great Viennese modernists, Egon Schiele and Gustav Klimt, it’s fascinating to view the concision and extremely intelligent images that São Thiago creates. Each as luxurious, immediate and above all, tender to the next.

Each artwork is verified by São Thiago as well as the TheAppWhisperer archive. Prints are supplied on museum-grade archival Fine Art Giclée Hahnemühle Photo Rag paper and provided with TheAppWhisperer Archive certificate of authenticity to provide limited edition provenance. Limited edition prints accompanied by a numbered holographic certificate digitally signed by the artist in addition to the TheAppWhisperer Archive logo, providing limited edition provenance, particularly relevant should the artwork change ownership in future.

São Thiago joins our successful featured artists, including Christine Sobczak, Jane Schultz, Helen Breznik, Jill Lian, Gianluca Ricoveri, Lorenka Campos, Susan Rennie, Sean Hayes, Glenn Homann and Barbara Nebel.

Mobile Photography / Art – Saturday Poetry ‘Adore’ by Li-Young Lee with

Share

This weeks Saturday Poetry, matched with mobile photography/art is entitled ‘Adore’ by Li-Young Lee.  Lee was born in 1957 in Jakarta, Indonesia, to Chinese parents. His father had been a personal physician to Mao Zedong while in China, and relocated the family to Indonesia, where he helped found Gamaliel University. In 1959, the Lee family fled the country to escape anti-Chinese sentiment and after a five-year trek through Hong Kong, Macau, and Japan, they settled in the United States in 1964.

Lee attended the University of Pittsburgh and University of Arizona, and the State University of New York at Brockport. He has taught at several universities, including Northwestern and the University of Iowa.

He is the author of The Undressing (W. W. Norton, 2018); Behind My Eyes (W. W. Norton, 2008); Book of My Nights (BOA Editions, 2001), which won the 2002 William Carlos Williams Award; The City in Which I Love You (BOA Editions, 1990), which was the 1990 Lamont Poetry Selection; and Rose (BOA Editions, 1986), which won the Delmore Schwartz Memorial Poetry Award.

His other work includes Breaking the Alabaster Jar: Conversations with Li-Young Lee (Edited by Earl G. Ingersoll, BOA Editions, 2006), a collection of twelve interviews with Lee at various stages of his artistic development; and The Winged Seed: A Remembrance (Simon and Schuster, 1995), a memoir which received an American Book Award from the Before Columbus Foundation.

With regard to Lee’s work, the poet Gerald Stern has noted that “what characterizes [his] poetry is a certain humility… a willingness to let the sublime enter his field of concentration and take over, a devotion to language, a belief in its holiness.”

He has been the recipient of a Fellowship from the Academy of American Poets, a Lannan Literary Award, a Whiting Writer’s Award, the PEN Oakland/Josephine Miles Award, the I. B. Lavan Award, three Pushcart Prizes, and grants from the Illinois Arts Council, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, and the National Endowment for the Arts, as well as a Guggenheim Foundation fellowship. In 1998, he received the honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters from State University of New York at Brockport.

He lives in Chicago, Illinois, with his wife and their two sons.

I have matched mobile art work entitled ‘Climbing up the Walls’ by @before.1st.light – Jane Schultz with this poem. You can view and follow her on Instagram here.

Mobile Photography & Art – Portrait of an Artist – Celebration of the Year 2018

Share

From 2013 to 2016 Carolyn Hall Young found the inspiration for her art in the people that surrounded her and in the Mobile art community. Confined mainly to her bed she found a way to manifest the creativity and art in her soul and thus, stay into our hearts and worlds forever. It has been already two years without her but we will never stop celebrating her life and all the love and joy she spread while she was on this earth.

With her work as an inspiration Seeing Through The Eyes Of… is a series of interviews and collaborations for Joanne Carter’s Portrait Of an Artist section of TheAppWhisperer.com that intends to inspire the community to do more collaborative works and it is also my personal way to thank Carolyn for her strength and exemplary love for life.

Mobile Photography & Art – Glenn Homann Joins Our Online Gallery

Share

Award Winning Australian artist Glenn Homann’s Fine Art Architectural Street Photography offers a new perspective and genre in photography. Raw textures, straight lines, bright colours: Homann has always been drawn towards those details that enclose the essence of the street, intersected with urban architecture. His work is heterogeneous, the buildings adapt to the space, both context and culture coexist, as a solidification of cultural experience.

There’s resilience to Homann’s photography, both in terms of the art that he creates and atmospheric scenes he portrays. Homann’s utopias portray a society that’s forward and bold and at the same time, he’s part of a breed of photographers who are scrupulous, serious and respectful of urban history offering distinct visual dynamism to each composition.

We are overjoyed today to announce that Award Winning Photographer Glenn Homann has accepted our invitation to join TheAppWhisperer Online Gallery! We are exhibiting seven limited edition and exclusive collectable prints of Homann’s photographs. Available to purchase for the first time on museum grade archival paper stocks in limited edition print runs. Each artwork is verified by Glenn Homann as well as the TheAppWhisperer archive. Prints are supplied on museum-grade archival Hahnemuhle Photo Rag paper and provided with TheAppWhisperer Archive certificate of authenticity to provide limited edition provenance.

Limited edition prints accompanied by a numbered holographic certificate digitally signed by the artist in addition to the TheAppWhisperer Archive logo, providing limited edition provenance, particularly relevant should the artwork change ownership in future.

Homann joins our successful featured artists, including Christine O Sobczak,  Jane Schultz, Helen Breznik, Jill Lian, Gianluca Ricoveri, Lorenka Campos, Susan Rennie, Sean Hayes and Barbara Nebel.
