Street Football: An Insider’s Perspective – Event Tonight – I’ll Be There!

I’m super excited to be attending the preview of the above event tonight in London, it’s in association with HTC a global leader in mobile innovation and design. They have launched ‘Inside Street Football,’ a new exhibition designed to capture the passion and spirit of street football. ‘Inside Street Football’ used the award-winning new HTC One to shoot grass roots football across twelve cities in Europe and the Middle East, including London and Glasgow, with all images captured by Getty Images’ photographers.

The exhibition will be hosted at Top Office Machines, 133-135 Bethnal Green Road – a gallery located in a former computer repair shop – from Friday, 24th of May to Tuesday, 28th of May. The images can also be viewed at an online gallery at http://www.htc.com/uk/ from the 24th of May.

Taking inspiration from HTC’s global partnership with The UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League, ‘Inside Street Football’ explores the different urban spaces in which people first discover their love for the game, in addition to capturing a unique perspective on renowned cities as diverse as Riyadh and Stockholm.

Captured by an esteemed roster of Getty Images photographers, ‘Inside Street Football’ utilises the key features of the HTC One UltraPixel camera such as HTC Zoe™ to help capture every movement. From recording stills and HD video at the same time to utilizing the camera’s ultra-wide angle front-facing camera and low-light capabilities, the campaign brings to life the skills required for street football, be that kicking a can around on the streets of Amsterdam or playing at dusk on the beach in Barcelona.

Speaking about the exhibition, Phil Blair, HTC Head of EMEA, said, “Football is a game that transcends all languages, all borders and all backgrounds so it was important for ‘Inside Street Football’ to go back to where it all started and capture the love people have for the game whatever the backdrop. Most people carry a smartphone around with them every day and use it to capture and share content, so it made absolute sense to put the award winning HTC One into the hands of Getty Images photographers to capture the places people genuinely enjoy kicking around a ball.”

Guy Isherwood, the photographer capturing the London images, says, “The HTC One was great for this project, as having such a wide zooming lens enabled me to get involved, up close and personal with my subjects, and having the ZoeTM feature meant I didn’t miss capturing the emotions brought out by the game. “

    Joanne,

With the horror / tragedy that is going on right now, ( OKC, London) it seems we really need to get back to having a sense of play. May these images spur some folks into doing some bit of exuberance for just being alive.

    Be well

    Laurence

btw: our big thing was hide and seek over summer nights…

Very nice images…the show of images apparently runs on flash..and does not work on the ipad…but on a desktop computer. The phone itself is pricey. According the site it retails for 529.99 British Pound Sterling equals
804.05 US Dollar. That is a good chunk of change. Would love to have one though.
