Today we are featuring Lisa Waddell, a mobile photographer we have long admired and also been fortunate enough to feature in the past in our Flickr showcases and numerous interviews, infact Lisa is very highly featured and rightly so and it is with great pleasure that we can feature Lisa’s up to date Top Five Apps for mobile photography today, take a look at this…

It’s definitely hip to be square and 6×6 does it for me. Created by the fine folks at jag.gr, this app has all the greatness of 645 Pro but it’s just a bit simpler to use. As the name implies, this camera replacement app shoots square images. I have used other camera apps but I always come back to 6×6.

When I want to give my images the look of film, AltPhoto is my go-to app and I go to it a lot! This app offers some of the finest black and white filters of any app I have used. There are 18 of them and another 18 color filters from which to choose. The app is very simple to use and includes the ability to adjust, via sliders, the intensity and brightness of each effect. One feature I find very handy is the option to turn off the frame that is built-in to each filter.

Mextures

This is the new kid on my block and I’m still learning all of the intricacies of layering different filters. Not as intuitive as some UIs, with a bit of practice, editing should become second nature. The thing I like best about this app is that it puts a new spin on old topics like light leaks, grit and grain.

Sure, there are other apps that offer grunge effects but there is something about Scratchcam’s ease of use, unlimited combinations and the ability to download new effects free of charge. Like that favorite sweatshirt, I will never get rid of this app!

This app is like a small utility knife. It resizes, rotates and crops photos and has a share feature on it as well. I use it to resize all my photos. It’s quick, easy and has a user friendly UI.

    Thank you for sharing Lisa.
Your work is absolutely beautiful and you remain an inspiration to me.

I’ve admired Lisa’s work for a long time, too. Great to get a peek into her process. And I absolutely LOVE this series of “favorite app” recommendations. Very useful and inspiring. Only one of these apps I don’t use is iResize. My app for that is BigPhoto–and comparative comments on the differences between those two?

David, thank you for your thoughtful comment! I, too, find this series of “favorite apps” to be very useful. To be honest with you, I have not tried BigPhoto. Some one recommended iResize to me. I tried it and found it to be very user friendly so I never have tried any similar apps. Thanks again for commenting!
