“It’s so exciting to be part of such a great community of artists, and I’m appreciative that you all share your work with the group! This is a wonderful showcase of AppArt you’re sure to enjoy. I’ve highlighted three special pieces contained in the showcase and hope you’ll all take the time to visit each of these artist’s Flickr feeds to explore their work on a more cumulative basis.

Congratulations to all of this week’s featured APPartists: Allyson Marie, Michelle Robinson, Carolyn Hall Young, Em Kachouro, Jane Schultz, Elaine Taylor, Kristie (hoodkitty), Lila (lila_lile), Brett Chenoweth, Lee Atwell,  Aldo Pacheco, Jo Sullivan, Thelcf666, Diana Nicholette Jeon,  Vanessa Vox, Dieter Gaebel,  and Juta Jazz.

Lila_Lile/ Title: You Are My Inspiration

Sometimes less is more and sometimes more is more. This piece has both. The singular palette remains rich and inviting and forces you into this complex composition. An image, within an image, within an image seems to tell separate stories in addition to a composite tale. This work is delightfully crafted in tactile, painterly stokes and is a great example of what AppArt is all about.

Jane Schultz / Title: The Dance

I’ve looked at this image many times and go back and forth as to what I think it’s about. The title could also go either way and doesn’t help to decipher an intended story. At times I think it’s a very happy couple delighting in the sunshine and sunflower garden. Conversely it sometimes gives me the impression of a couple at odds and fighting with each other. Regardless of its meaning to Jane, it’s hard to imagine any viewer not being forced to stop and explore this fabulous work of art. It has a bright, colorful palette complimented with a wonderful juxtaposition of sharp imagery to painterly brushwork. It’s fun, interesting and causes speculation.

Aldo Pacheco / Title: The Dumbest King Of The World Still Believed To Be The Happiest King Of The World

Wonderfully calculated childlike expression here. The stereotypical red velvet crown accentuated by the spotted black and white fur trims are but hints to this “king” that reminds me of the boy in the book “Where the Wild Things Are”.  The random, scribbly line work delivers a delightful energy and contrast to the subject. Love it!
