    iOS – 1-Bit Camera – New

    2012-03-30 / Comments Off on iOS – 1-Bit Camera – New

    This is a brand new iPhone photography app that has just hit the iTunes app store. With 1-BIT CAMERA you can see and record your world in one bit clarity, processed with dithering algorithms pioneered by Bill Atkinson and Bryce Bayer. Those are only fancy names, of course – but! – you have probably laid eyes on their immortalized legacy as per the awe-inspiring imaging seen on 1980s desktop publishing computers and on 8-bit handheld camera accessories, respectively. This app retails for $0.99/£0.69 and you can download it here. Features   * 1-bit dynamic range
* More than 150 kilopixels
* Atkinson and Bayer dithering algorithms
* Tumble, tweet and…

    iOS – MobileMonet – Updated

    2012-03-29 / Comments Off on iOS – MobileMonet – Updated

    MobileMonet converts a photo to a beautiful artistic rendering employing a creative interactive process.
 MobileMonet generates a black and white sketch version of any picture you select. There are settings to adjust the sketch to your liking.

MobileMonet then lets you paint onto the sketch using a soft flow brush tool that applies a painterly version of the original photo. The more you brush, the more paint is applied. It’s deceptively simple, but very creative. Brush in just the areas you want to highlight. You can adjust the paint settings to get just look you want.
 This app has just received some new Photo Management Improvements, you can check out What’s…

    2012-03-28 / 2 Comments

    Hopefully you will recall our ‘A Day In The Life Of Veevs’ article that we recently published, if not, you can read it here. We were so impressed with Veevs’ images and we know so many of our readers were too, that it has inspired us to launch another new section on theappwhisperer.com. This new section contains iPhone photography tutorials, and we launched it with the help of Veevs a few days ago. The first tutorial we published explained how to recreate Veevs’ wonderful pastel effect seagull shot. If you missed that, you can read it here. In this tutorial with help from Veevs we have retraced the steps she…

    iOS – Camera Awesome Becomes More Awesome

    2012-03-27 / Comments Off on iOS – Camera Awesome Becomes More Awesome

    Camera Awesome takes your photos to the next level by shooting faassst and taking sharper, better-exposed shots. You may recall that this app received quite a lot of stick when it was released on February 28, 2012. Billed as ‘free’ it came with, as the developer told us ‘tons of in-app purchases’. Well, that’s good but then it’s not ‘exactly free’, is it? Looks like the developers have had a rethink as this update includes much lower pricing for in-app effects packages. There’s also Instagram integration, in-app tutorials, pinch-to-zoom, white balance lock, improved sharing interface, improved shot timer, performance improvements, EXIF date improvements and a bunch of bug and crash…
