Paul Suciu works in the suspended moment and captures some sense of the invisible or at least the latent within his photographs. His work is a form of storytelling, his images visually narrate the viewer towards the conclusion, as if they were physically there. He has a unique visual sensibility with a quiet alertness that you can sense within his images, echoing his own presence as a photographer and that as a man. Many of his images combine architecture and transport with a human element, unifying a deeper conviction, to strive to create images that push beyond the expected. Ones that offer inventive and artful ways of looking at the relationship between the architectural environment and the humans that inhabit them. His street photography usually includes no more than two people and usually just one. He explores the ordinary and the familiar, there’s a sense of drama to each shot which can be magnified and made transformative. Suciu photographs are realism meeting psychological equity – it’s all located in a sort of familiar landscape and terrain but it’s gracefully transformed and made ephemerally mysterious.

We are exhibiting fifteen exclusive highly collectable prints of Suciu’s work. Available to purchase for the first time on museum grade archival paper stocks.

To have someone interpret our story, to know what we’ve endured, experienced, sustained and to vocalise it back to us, is what we all most long for. Peter Wilkin’s art meets us at this level, perhaps offering the ultimate allure, to have our own story retold to us. Yearning, moribund, caring, all brush up against each other in this selection of art, you can edge right up to it, be captivated, with another, through another, into the purest vestal from where we came.

Wilkin’s previous occupation as a psychotherapist has much to do with his understanding of our needs to be understood. His art radiates and throbs off the page, each one suggestive of another outcome, if the viewer approaches the art with inner knowledge, then they will bask in a sort of awakening, a path, on which to return and reel from the bliss.

We are exhibiting ten exclusive highly collectable prints of Wilkin’s work. Available to purchase for the first time on museum grade archival paper stocks.

Sarah Bichachi’s art underlines the concept of the impermanence of life – one of her main sources of inspiration. The processes of genesis, metamorphosis and inevitable disappearance, as well as the symbolic correspondences between earth and body, are her starting points. Bichachi’s photographs offer great poetic beauty brought together in a superbly elegant and enigmatic way that compels a shiver of aesthetic pleasure and fear. Bichachi is a cancer survivor and each piece of art embodies her courage, resourcefulness, physical toughness, talent and relish. Her art is a springboard for a tremendously charismatic and muscular outstanding performance, brilliantly crafted and deliciously entertaining – a metaphor for the fleetingness of life. “True success radiates love, compassion… a sense of well being and a feeling of accomplishment not only for the body, but for the soul as well”, she once confided to me.

We are exhibiting twelve exclusive highly collectable prints of Bichachi’s work. Available to purchase for the first time on museum grade archival paper stocks.

Anca Balaj is one of the finest mobile art draughtsman of her generation. As a visual creative, specialising in mobile photography and art direction, her practice combines a natural interest in academic research and literature to create a unique and radical style of mobile painting in which the conceptual meets the visual.

Balaj’s art is created with an Apple iPad and is intended to be scaled up into larger works where her economic execution and whimsical expression reveal an intimate side to her practice. Her imagery is very direct, working empirically, ‘inside an idea’.

Her rigorous style of fine art emphasises a dynamic but balanced relationship between complementary colours such as blue, red, green and orange, completing each other. They are at their most intense when placed together. Balaj adjusts her colours to obtain the maximum intensity.

Balaj is destined to be one of the decisive influences in mobile art and we are proud to represent her within TheAppWhisperer Online Gallery! We are exhibiting fifteen exclusive highly collectable prints of Balaj’s work. Available to purchase for the first time on museum grade archival paper stocks in strictly limited edition print runs, of ten prints, per image size.

Mobile Photography / Art New Year Resolutions 2019 From Artists Throughout The World

Share

We are delighted to publish our New Year Resolutions for 2019 from a selection of highly talented mobile photographers and artists throughout the world. As in previous years we have asked mobile photographers and artists for their New Year Resolutions with an accompanying image or video . Thank you to everyone who has contributed, they all make great reading, viewing and are inspiring, we are forever grateful to you all.

One of my New Year Resolutions this year is to accept an invitation to at least one Private View Exhibition each month. Naturally, I do not want to attend these on my own, so I am inviting our readers to contribute to each opportunity by supplying questions for the artist I am viewing. The first private view I will be attending this year, is in early February, with Tracey Emin, at her major solo exhibition entitled ‘A Fortnight of Tears’. I’ll be chatting with Emin there, so please forward any questions you would like me to ask her, on your behalf. Another of my New Year Resolutions is to try to give each individual artist more of my time. That’s no easy task but I believe so strongly in all of your work, I want to encourage and help as much as I can. So, to each and every one of you, I wish you a very Happy New Year, with much good health, wealth and success!

(Editors note: If you have not contributed to this post and you would like to, or if you have sent me your brief and I have not included it here, please let me know and I will open up this post and add it and of course you have my apologises in advance).

Mobile Photography & Art – Maria Cecilia de São Thiago Joins Our Online Gallery

We are thrilled today to announce Award Winning Mobile Photographer and Artist, Maria Cecilia de São Thiago has accepted our invitation to join TheAppWhisperer Online Gallery! We are exhibiting sixty exclusive highly collectable prints of São Thiago’s photographs. Available to purchase for the first time on museum grade archival paper stocks in strictly limited edition print runs, of one print, per image size.

São Thiago’s photographs are exquisite and allegorical in nature. Their vitality is instrumental in pulling the viewer into a very intimate world chronicling the self and beyond.  Mysticism and spirituality have long informed São Thiago’s practice and she is refreshingly transparent about her work.  She once told me, “my photos carry in each of them everything that I have learned, what I have lived, and what I have suffered”.

We have all brushed up against the sublime feeling of wonder, with sudden realisation that we do not know. Viewing Sao Thiago’s images enable us to recreate that emotion, allowing ourselves a bit of wonder, with the potential to forget what we think we know and to revel in the immediacy of the magic of her work, holding us close, as we unravel.

Influenced by two great Viennese modernists, Egon Schiele and Gustav Klimt, it’s fascinating to view the concision and extremely intelligent images that São Thiago creates. Each as luxurious, immediate and above all, tender to the next.

Each artwork is verified by São Thiago as well as the TheAppWhisperer archive. Prints are supplied on museum-grade archival Fine Art Giclée Hahnemühle Photo Rag paper and provided with TheAppWhisperer Archive certificate of authenticity to provide limited edition provenance. Limited edition prints accompanied by a numbered holographic certificate digitally signed by the artist in addition to the TheAppWhisperer Archive logo, providing limited edition provenance, particularly relevant should the artwork change ownership in future.

São Thiago joins our successful featured artists, including Christine Sobczak, Jane Schultz, Helen Breznik, Jill Lian, Gianluca Ricoveri, Lorenka Campos, Susan Rennie, Sean Hayes, Glenn Homann and Barbara Nebel.

Mobile Photography & Art – Portrait of an Artist – Seeing Through The Eyes Of Christine Sobczak

Share

We are delighted to bring to you the first of this years series of interviews and the thirteenth of this fascinating series, within our Portrait of an Artist column entitled “Seeing through the eyes…”. This is a section that has been created by our wonderful Portrait of an Artist Editor, Ile Mont. Mont has been inspired by the life and works of Carolyn Hall Young, as so many of us have. Young was the main contributor to our Portrait of an Artist Flickr pool and filled it with portraits of so many wonderful people, not only of herself. It is for this reason that Mont wanted to create this section, to enable us to view the artists style through their own eyes. At the end of each interview, Mont will keep Young’s tradition alive, with a portrait of herself, seen through the eyes of the artist. In this case, you will see that at the end of this interview there is a portrait of Mont, seen through the eyes of Christine Sobczak, what a gift!

Please continue to post your mobile portraiture to our dedicated Flickr group or use this hashtag on Instagram #tawportraitofanartist, this way, Mont will search through these artists first to interview. (Foreword by Joanne Carter).

All images in this interview ©Christine Sobczak, with the final image a collaboration ©Ile Mont/Christine Sobczak.

Visualising Mobile Photography and Art Interview with Joyce Harkin from the United Kingdom

Share

Today, we are publishing our twenty seventh visual interview, this time with Joyce Harkin from the United Kingdom. Harkin’s art is an amalgamation of dichotomies: inside/outside, public/private, high/low – all dynamic. Her images speak eloquently to us about our own life experiences at the same depicting her own. One of Harkin’s most admirable qualities as an artist, is her hunger for inspiration and this is reflected in her varied work. When embarking on a new creation, Harkin reaches the summit, she uniquely manages to not only arrive with an aesthetically pleasing visual image but one which ensures all the elements involved are included as intended.

I am so excited about this new Interview section within TheAppWhisperer. A picture speaks a thousand words, so says the English language idiom and as this is a website by and for visual artists, we felt this section was long overdue. We asked a series of mobile photographers and artists ten questions, in text format and we asked them to respond in their very best way, visually and in their own style of photography/art, the results are unique and incredibly exciting.

To read our previously published interviews, with Deborah McMillion, M. Cecilia Sao Thiago, Christine Sobczak, Liliana Schwitter, Armineh Hovanesian, Lorenka Campos, Donna Donato, Eliza Badoiu, Juta Jazz, Susan Rennie, Kate Zari Roberts, Lynette Sheppard, Debara Splendorio, Irene Oleksiuk, Davide Capponi, Vanessa Vox, Amanda Parker, Clint Cline, Christine Mignon, Bonobo Stone, Jerry Jobe, Joshua Sarinana, Meri Walker, Alexis Rotella, Jenny Pieters and Alon Goldsmith please go here.

Today, we are publishing our twenty sixth visual interview, this time with Alon Goldsmith from the United States. Goldsmith has created his own trademark style, as a pioneering mobile colour photographer.
