Mobile Art – Draw The Line #TAWidentity Challenge

2020-10-07 / Comments Off on Mobile Art – Draw The Line #TAWidentity Challenge

Huge thanks to our curators and editors of our Draw the Line Column, Carol Wiebe and Peter Wilkin for selecting these wining images to our latest challenge and also for creating the wonderful accompanying video showcase. “With over 200 tagged images entered in our latest challenge ‘Identity’, selecting just nine of them for our showcase was predictably difficult yet simultaneously extremely enjoyable. The standard of your art, as it always is, was incredible. The vast majority of images focused on people & portraits: some of them were self-portraits whilst some featured other people. After hours of deliberation I finally settled on the nine pieces below, although I could easily have…

Draw the Line – Mobile Art as an Expression

2020-05-29 / Comments Off on Draw the Line – Mobile Art as an Expression

If you’re not aware we have a wonderful column within TheAppWhisperer, edited by Carol Wiebe and Peter Wilkin entitled ‘Draw the Line’. This column is about adopting an initial photograph as an foundation piece, digitally enhancing it with mobile applications and then taking the image a step further by introducing drawn line, either directly drawing lines or making various marks upon the image. To join our Facebook group for this column, please go here. Here Peter Wilkin explains a little more about the drawn line within imagery…

New Challenge for our ‘Draw the Line Column’ – AloneTogether

2020-05-12 / Comments Off on New Challenge for our ‘Draw the Line Column’ – AloneTogether

To celebrate their new team editorship, Carol & Peter  are launching a challenge entitled ‘AloneTogether’. This could be an image driven by your environment, or one that perhaps reflects your mood. Or you could create an abstract interpretation of the theme. It’s up to you ~ but, of course, your image must include drawn lines in some form. There is no limit to the number of images you can post but please do include the hashtag #TAWAloneTogether if you want them to be entered into the challenge. We’ll run the challenge until mid-June & then we’ll choose nine images that we think best represent both the theme & the inclusion…

    Mobile Photography & Art – Artist’s Insights #1 – James Ellis

    2020-01-24 / 1 Comment

James Ellis is a Merge Maestro. To say he combines photos is quite an inadequate description of his work, as you will find out as you enjoy being privy to some of his approaches and techniques. And James loves line, employs it constantly, even though his subtlety of technique does not make that obvious. Over to James… My Work Is About Conveying  Emotion When I work on my art I work to convey emotion. That’s the first place I start… “How am I feeling”. I also try to tell a story to get the viewer into my headspace. I may be influenced by a song… I sometimes even get a song…
