Instagram Updated With Landscape Mode & More…
Instagram received a minor update yesterday, compared at least to the major update of the Video update recently. This update now adds the very much desired landscape mode and video stabilization feature when using the front facing camera. The landscape support allows for both photos and videos to be shot in landscape mode. The front facing camera stabilization is only available on the IOS version of Instagram at the moment, hopefully this will be coming soon to Android. Major Update To Instagram Rival – Vine – ‘Biggest Most Exciting Update Yet’
Vine have updated their Instagram rival mobile movie app and they’re calling it their ‘biggest most exciting update yet – with more coming soon’. There are some great new camera tools – the camera has been redesigned and now includes grid, focus and ghost tools to make shooting videos even easier. The developers have also introduced Channels – there’s 15 of them, allowing you to submit posts to or browse from the Explore screen. Instagram Gets Movie Mode
If you needed even more reason to join our brand new Mobile Movies flickr group, then you just got it – Facebook held a press event yesterday afternoon announcing the addition of video recording and of course sharing to Instagram. So now, not only can you share photos but also 15 second ‘movies’/clips if you like, too. Instagram Image Takes Front Page Of New York Times
Despite the actual photo shoot for this event taking place back in February 2012, this image of Alex Rodriguez taken by professional sports photographer Nick Laham in a locker room, graced Sunday’s (March 31, 2013) front page. It was taken with an iPhone and edited in Instagram. It’s an interesting tactic by the NYT’s, we’re not entirely sure why they have decided to publish these images now but we’re very grateful that they have as it continues to drive the momentum of mobile photography as a serious form of photojournalism. Yesterday, April 3, 2013, was the first year anniversary for the developers of Instagram’s Android app. Last year, in less than one day over a million people downloaded the app and now almost half of all instagrammers use the Android app to share photos with friends, family and the world.
