Apple Tickles Our Fancies
This is not just any old English idiom, oh no, Apple is definitely tickling my fancy. If you head straight to Apple.com this is the teaser you will see on the home page. Well, tomorrow is sure to be another new exciting day full of iTunes announcements. Now what are we expecting? Read more below to find out… Well, obviously we don’t know for sure but we’re thinking possibly some sort of streaming subscription service out of that North Carolina data center. I’d love to see apps for Apple TV with the iOS4.2 update, but am not convinced that’s coming yet. What do you think? Let us know your thoughts……
iTunes 10.1 Alert – Now For Airplaying
One of the many things I really like about Apple is how they constantly look to improve and update their software, keeping you always ahead of the game. Of course, iTunes 10.1 has just hit the deck and now you can instantly and wirelessly stream videos from iTunes to the all-new Apple TV. You can already stream music, photos, and video from your computer to Apple TV, however with AirPlay you’ll be able to stream it all from your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, too. iBooks Gift Cards Now Available
Just in time for the holiday season of course, iLounge, has noted that Apple has started selling iBooks gift cards in their retail stores. As you are probably aware Apple have been selling the iTunes gift cards for many years, these are redeemable against apps, music and video. To be honest we’re not sure why Apple don’t just simplfiy things and create one card, say the ‘Apple iGift’ or something like that, that allows you to redeem it against any Apple downloadable item you like.
iTunes Store Offers Movies in Japan
iTunes movies are now being offered in Japan, these include translated English language movies like Alice in Wonderland as well as Japansese specific titles including Ototo. The viewing rights appear to be 30 days to start watching the movie and 48 hours to finish once playback has commenced. New movies in HD cost around 2500 Yen. Apple TV also hit Japan this week and Apple is hoping for a large uptake competing with Sony and services like Qriocity or PS3’s movie store, all of which are popular already in Japan.
