    Italian Brother – A Photographic Journey…

    2013-03-01 / 11 Comments

This truly has been one long year, which at times almost felt rushed up! I know! You might be thinking: January is far-gone, what is he mumbling about! Well, I was just thinking about my photographic year, I am reaching my first anniversary and I cannot believe that only yesterday I was sitting in Richard Gray’s iPhoneography class, at least this is what it seems, and yet, almost a year has passed. The good thing, however, is in less then a month I will be enjoying his tutorials again! This has also been such an eventful year, full of surprises, and every day was one from which I’ve learnt and…

Gray’s Anatomy – How Ironic – By Richard Gray

    2013-03-01 / 2 Comments

Another week has come and gone but just before the weekend starts we have the pleasure in publishing the wonderful words and wisdom of none other, than our great columnist, Richard Gray. This week Richard discusses the ‘history’ of photography in his own very special humorous way, don’t miss this. (Foreword by Joanne Carter). Over to you Richard…     “I love Hipstamatic’s recent Tintype SnapPak, which includes the C-type (or cyanotype) film. In the words of the Hipsta blurb, this “film” adds a hand-painted quality to your portraiture” (not sure why they mention portraiture in particular – it does allow you take photos of non-portrait things). Some interesting things…

We’re delighted to publish this very interesting article by our Columnist Star Rush for her column with us ‘Shooting Star’, which offers inspiration and guidance in seeing as a photographer sees, for those interested in in exploring creative ways to observe, record, and comment upon the small and large moments of one’s life and those people, things and places around them with a smartphone camera. In this article Star takes a look at using still images within a movie style, as Star herself says, ‘it’s a practice for thinking about sequencing photo essays for online or print…’ (foreword by Joanne Carter). Using Your iPhone Camera To Detect Diseases – Amazing Tech

    2013-02-28 / 1 Comment

I’m aware that that headline is ambiguous and I’m also aware that most of you know I’ve been unwell recently, so perhaps that helped me tune into this brand new app called Uchek. Quite remarkably it is an app that will test your urine sample, don’t worry you don’t have to bring the two into direct contact. How it works is that you produce a urine sample into a suitable container, then using a specially developed color-coded urinalysis strip, you dip that into the sample, next you take a photograph of the results and the app will then analyze it. There are twenty five diseases that Uchek can detect, including…

Elaina Wilcox has written a great tutorial to help you start enjoying this app straight away, please take a look at this. (Foreword by Joanne Carter).   Step 1   ‘I always start my Adobe Photoshop Touch projects by duplicating the layer.   Step 2   After duplicating the layer, I used the Adjustment Brush, choosing the Saturation setting to bring more warmth and depth to the veil as well as her face. I wanted there to be a very strong definition separating the veil from her…

2013-02-27 / Comments Off on Wrapcam – Temporarily Free

Wrapcam is a popular app, I wouldn’t describe as ‘the coolest app’ as the developers do but you may find it to be of interest as it is temporarily free today. Usually this app retails for $0.99/£0.69, but if you click here, you can download it for free.
