New Projects – Our New Form of Artistic Installation aka ‘The Quilt’ Is Ready!

Share

We’re delighted to inform our readers that the quilt that so many of you contributed to, has now been completed. For those of you not aware of this project, it involved mobile artists contributing one image and each one was then carefully included within a large quilt to be displayed at the next gallery show or even Mobile Arts Festival. There has been a few obstacles along the way and we have overcome each one. This quilt was sewed together and finalised by none other than mobile artist, Lorenka Campos’ mother in law. We all owe her much gratitude. The quilt is now with Lorenka Campos, so if you would like to display it at your next event, please contact her for details.

I have also been reminded and I shouldn’t have needed to be however, “Linda Toki did the whole layout of the quilt and had it printed. She also spent days working on the catalog so I really think she deserves a shout out as the quilt would never have happened without her”. We all need to give huge thanks to Linda M. Toki – join me!!

Print Sale Focus – ‘The Broken Hearted’ with Lorenka Campos

We are sure we have reached many of you with details of our brand spanking new Online Gallery and Print Sales Website, if not, then you really need to take a look here and see it for yourself. The site has been optimised for both mobile, tablet and desktop computers.

Today, we’re going to focus on one specific image from our collections and this is by Multi Award Winning Mobile Photographer Lorenka Campos from the United States. Campos has progressively established herself as a fine art mobile photographer, winning awards and taking part in a number of exhibitions throughout the world. Her work is immensely captivating, her images show their inner selves and of the paradox they portray – the paradox of the unstoppable exposure of frailty against raw and enduring strength.

The image that we are focusing on today that we are offering for sale in our online gallery is entitled The Broken Hearted. We offer this image in three sizes, 18 x 24, 12 x 16 and 9 x 12. The prices range from US$96 to $193. These will all be handprinted on Fine Art Giclee on Hahnemuhle Photo Rag. This paper is one of our most popular papers amongst artists, illustrators & photographers alike. The paper gives muted blacks with even colour reproduction, and excellent detail. The surface has minimal texture with a chalky smooth cotton feel which creates smooth colour gradients. It has a delicate surface, so we recommend extra care when handling. Photorag is suitable for mounting but its cotton texture means edges can fray if not carefully handled.

In case you’re not familiar with ThePrintSpace, who we have partnered for our printing and despatch services, let me tell you a little more. ThePrintSpace are the UK’s most professional photography printers, that’s fact. You won’t get a better print shop over here. Their clients include Sony World Photography Awards, World Photography Organisation, British Journal of Photography, The Royal Photography Society as well as 20k artists and pro photographers. If you’ve visited Photo London in the past, or are planning on going this year, all the images that are displayed at Somerset House, London, will have been printed and framed by ThePrintSpace, there simply, isn’t a better place and they have agreed to a flat rate shipping with our customers of £6/$8 per print, globally. When you view our prices at TheAppWhispererPrintSales, the printing prices have already been calculated, so the price you see, plus the £6/$8 shipping is the price you pay.

We offer multiple ways to pay for your prints, including American Express, Apple Pay, Mastercard, Paypal and Visa.

Your sale helps to support TheAppWhisperer.com and the photographer always gets back 50% of the proceeds. By supporting us, you’re supporting photographers and we support photographers – it’s a win for all.

We also offer a 14 day return service, in the unusual event that you’re not 100% happy with your purchase, just return it within that time span and you will receive a full refund. Standard option return postal delivery charges for damaged & defective or incorrect orders will be refunded.

If you’re eager to scoop up this incredible image by Lorenka Campos, here’s a link that will take you directly to where you can do that.

Of course, if this style of art is not your cup of tea, take a look at our other collections too. We have included street photography by Susan Rennie, Portraiture and Fine Art by Helen Breznik, Jane Schultz and Sean Hayes. As well as landscape photography by Gianluca Ricoveri, macro photography by Jill Lian and botanical work by Barbara Nebel. Just go here to view all of our current available for sale collections.

Print Sale Focus – ‘Rene’ with Helen Breznik

We are sure we have reached many of you with details of our brand spanking new Online Gallery and Print Sales Website, if not, then you really need to take a look here and see it for yourself. The site has been optimised for both mobile, tablet and desktop computers.

Today, we’re going to focus on one specific image from our collections and this is by Multi Award Winning Mobile Photographer Helen Breznik. Breznik’s photography leans towards the melancholy—but in Breznik’s hands, this emotion could be defined as ‘sorrow with a purpose.’ She utilizes her sensitivity to conjure up a romantic beauty in her images: images which are self-portraits but have a universal appeal within.

Breznik has always felt comfortable in front of the camera. When she is modeling for her portraits, she does so with music playing, garbed in fabulous vintage clothes. At their best, these sessions transport her to another world, one where her alter-egos can fully emerge. The characters are varied: a Queen will emerge, serene, royal, strong but with vulnerability. Or a figure drawn from the Pre-Raphaelites period, containing tragedy mixed with great passion and beauty.

Although the outward changes seem dramatic, she actually strives to keep make-up to a minimum. Her most dramatic way to change appearance is by sculpting natural light. With care, she is able to create deep shadows, strong lines, vivid contrasts, all of which create natural depth and definition.

Breznik first took up photography 10 years ago after picking up a bunch of old Polaroid cameras. She loved working with Time Zero film, which gave her ample opportunity to manipulate the images. When she heard about new smartphone apps which simulated Polaroid photography, she felt compelled to try them out. From 2010, Breznik began using the iPhone exclusively and her dedication to the boundless possibilities of mobile photography was settled.

Having used a variety of different tools over the course of her photographic career, Breznik concludes, “In the end it doesn’t matter what you shoot with…it’s the final image that matters.”

The photograph that we are focusing on today that we are offering for sale in our online gallery is entitled ‘Rene‘. We offer this image in three sizes, 16″ x 24″, 12″ x 18″ and 8″ x 12″. The prices range from US$140 to $282. These will all be printed on Fine Art Giclee on Hahnemuhle Photo Rag. The surface has minimal texture with a chalky smooth cotton feel which creates smooth colour gradients. It has a delicate surface, so we recommend extra care when handling. We’re delighted to reveal that the Mobile Photography Awards (MPA) 2016 Results have now been announced. As always we (I speak as a member of the Jury) were succumbed by the wealth of talent displayed across our screens. We’ve had more entries to this competition than ever before and the quality of submissions has been totally outstanding across all the categories. Personally, it was an honour for me to be asked to be a key member of this jury for the 5th consecutive year by founder of the Mobile Photography Awards, Daniel Berman and also to serve with James Bacchi, Annette Schutz, Evgeny Tchebotarev, Jen Pollack Bianco, Brendan O Se, Susannah Perlman, Stefano Fantoni, Sheldon Serkin, Andy Butler and Christopher Wahl.

A professional photo journalist, born in London in 1965, he began taking pictures seriously in Berlin in the mid 1980’s. In 1995, he moved to New York City where he began an intense year in the Richard Avedon studio. A decade long career producing television for Channel 4 UK in Hollywood was to follow. In more recent times, Giles began the serious work & dedication of activism starting with a 6-week stint in Bhopal, India where he filmed & photographed the victims of the Union Carbide gas tragedy that still continues to haunt the inhabitants of that city. He scoops the grand prize money of $3,000.

Brought to Light – Mobile Photography/Art Interview with Robi Gallardo

Share

Robi Gallardo’s photography shows an instinctive grasp of narrative and metaphor. Each image carefully composed and produced to accentuate the images in his head.  His restless vision and relentless curiosity is conclusive evidence of the important visual chronicler that we have before us. Gallardo’s photographs demonstrate an instinctively gifted individual pursuing his own creative journey with clarity and brilliance.

This is our new interview section for mobile photographers and mobile artists and we hope to be filling it very soon with vast explosions of thought and imagery. These questions are designed to explore the artist behind the work, to get to know them a little more intimately.

We recently published our first ‘Brought to Light’ Interview with Andrea Bigiarini, Founder of the New Era Museum and FIPA Florence International Photography Awards as well as writer, author, Imagineer and digital artist, if you missed that, please go here. We then went on to publish an instinctively gifted artist, Ile Mont, if you missed that please go here. Further we published our interview with Roger Guetta, please see here, Rad Drew, please go here to read that also Gianluca Ricoveri (please go here to read that one), Sean Hayes – please go here to read that one and most recently Petyr Campos – please go here to read that one.
