Harjo was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on May 9, 1951, and is a member of the Mvskoke/Creek Nation. Apple Agrees to Compensate Winners of ‘Shot on iPhone Competition’
Many of the Mobile Photographers within TheAppWhisperer community have not only submitted their images to Apple’s ‘Shot on iPhone Competition’ but have also won and their photographs have graced billboards around the world in earlier years. Apple has faced criticism though for not compensating winners, suggesting perhaps that they felt exposure should be enough. However, Apple have now backtracked and will compensate winners with licensing fees. A direct quote from Apple reads: “Apple believes strongly that artists should be compensated for their work. Photographers who shoot the final 10 winning photos will receive a licensing fee for use of such photos on billboards and other Apple marketing channels”. The contest…

Mobile Photography – Huawei Announces Winners of £10,000 New Working Order
Huawei, the world’s second largest smartphone manufacturer, today announced the winners of its New Working Order Bursary campaign – a £10,000 cash injection prize fund to help three young professionals within Generation Z take their passion projects to the next level. Lewis Hornby, Uma Dassaye and Sam Marchant have been named the overall winners of the competition, receiving a £10,000 cash prize each. The ‘New Working Order’ Bursary was launched in conjunction with research from Dr. Chris Brauer at Goldsmiths, University of London, which revealed that Generation Z are more likely to be motivated by job satisfaction and working for the social good than by money.
