Mobile Photography – StreetsAhead – Special Edition – Women’s March 21 January 2017
Welcome to our Special Edition – Women’s March of 21 January 2017, StreetsAhead Showcase. Gina Costa and Cara Gallardo Weil our highly talented StreetsAhead Editors have chosen three distinct images to critique. These include images by Donna Donato, Heather Mc Allister and Kate Zari Roberts, as they represent the variety of the kinds of images that tell the story about the International Women’s March. At the heart of this important international event was the collective voice of Women (and Men) that women’s rights are not negotiable. All genders are equal. Women’s bodies are their own and and it should not be up to the politicians to make policy about what…

”The marvels of daily life are exciting; no movie director can arrange the unexpected that you find in the street” Robert Doisneau Hello everyone! Mobile Photography Awards Sixth Annual Awards – Results!
We’re delighted to reveal that the Mobile Photography Awards (MPA) 2016 Results have now been announced. As always we (I speak as a member of the Jury) were succumbed by the wealth of talent displayed across our screens. We’ve had more entries to this competition than ever before and the quality of submissions has been totally outstanding across all the categories. Personally, it was an honour for me to be asked to be a key member of this jury for the 5th consecutive year by founder of the Mobile Photography Awards, Daniel Berman and also to serve with James Bacchi, Annette Schutz, Evgeny Tchebotarev, Jen Pollack Bianco, Brendan O Se,…

Mobile Photography / Art New Year Resolutions 2017 From Around The World
When we think of a new year, we sometimes think of a fresh start and with that, our minds start racing with ways to improve on what we did last year. Sometimes, New Year Resolutions are ambitious, sometimes less so but all are supposed to hold the promise of commitment for the entire year. This can be difficult to achieve and it can be hard to keep up the enthusiasm but not impossible. It’s important to not only enjoy big goals but also to enjoy the little things, looking at the stars at night, walking barefoot in the grass… essentially bring more peace to our lives. In many ways, following…

Grand Flickr Group Showcase of 2016 – TheAppWhisperer – Mobile Photography and Art
I had intended to publish our 2016 Grand Flickr Group Showcase of Mobile Photography and Art on Christmas Day this year. I had prepared most of it ahead of time and was relatively well organised to go live on 25 December. However, events took a turn for the worse and as I awoke after a thoroughly turbulent night on the morning of 24 December, I picked up my phone and saw a Facebook message coming through from a friend expressing how sorry she was for the loss of Carolyn Hall Young a few hours before. For a few moments, I thought I was still in the midst of the wretched…

Mobile Photography – StreetWise Showcase – October 2016
“For me, photography has become a way of attempting to make sense of the strange world that I see around me. I don’t ever expect to achieve that understanding, but the fact that I am trying comforts me.” Mikhael Subotzky Thank you all so much for participating and inspiring us with your incredible photos. As always, it was difficult for us to choose such few images for the showcase from all those that were submitted – such stunning images in both color and black and white. Welcome, also, to those newer to our street photography community – it is great to have you join us! As a reminder, we choose…

Mobile Photography & Art Flickr Group Showcase – 17 July 2016
Art and health are in-explicitly linked, we know the obvious health benefits and therapeutic advantages of creating physical art with paintings and photography but also it’s linked with literature and medicine. Many will notice ‘the ‘language barrier’ when visiting a doctor. Sometimes your doctor may not understand your condition because you cannot describe it lucidly enough and in turn, your doctor cannot describe the proposed treatment because he cannot explain it squarely to you. Language is integral to medicine, as an art, this means language is integral to our health. Chekhov famously quipped: “Medicine is my lawful wife and literature my mistress; when I get tired of one, I spend…
