Streets Ahead – Thirty Fifth Edition – Mobile Street Photography

    2014-04-23 / 6 Comments

Welcome to the thirty fifth edition of “Streets Ahead,” a weekly column dedicated to women mobile street photographers. Each week we review and curate work that was submitted to our Flickr Group. In addition to creating a showcase video which features a sampling of submitted work, we also highlight a few images that caught our attention… offering some thoughtful commentary about technique, composition, and subject matter. If you are not a member of our Facebook group… we highly recommend that you join us! This is our space for sharing newsworthy information and conducting discussions (what, when, where, why and how) about Women Photographers/Artists and Street Photography, in general. So, if…

    Camera vs Smartphone – Infographic

    2014-04-23 / 3 Comments

Treat.com has created an infographic with the title “Camera vs Smartphone” that has some interesting stats we thought our readers might like to learn about, including Eastern Europe and Russia being the greatest region (74.1%) of top smartphone sales growth in the world. Some of these, perhaps many of these statistics you may well be aware of, including the plummeting global camera shipments, all cameras sales are now at -43%. If you look at the snapshot relating to compact cameras, you will see a sharp decline of sales from 147.5 million units down to 59 million between 2012 – 2014. Control Samsung’s NX Camera-Bot From Home

2014-04-23 / Comments Off on Control Samsung’s NX Camera-Bot From Home

Samsung is calling for ideas on where to send its user-controlled camera-bot, the NX Rover, next. Inspired by Mars exploration rovers, the space-like NX Rover has so far travelled over 10,000 miles and taken over 3,000 pictures, all with ordinary people behind the lens, controlling it online. Up to now, people have had the chance to control the photos the robot takes – now they also have the chance to choose where it goes by suggesting their location using hashtag #NXRover.   So far Samsung’s NX Camera-Bot has been training with Bayern Munich; been on a fashion shoot in Iceland and hung out with super-heroes at Comic Con. Where the…

Welcome back to our thirty third post in our new section ‘Tickle Your Fancy’. ‘Tickle Your Fancy’ includes a round-up of five links to articles from around the internet that have specifically interested us during the course of the week. Ones that we feel are relevant to your interest in photography and art. Just to explain the title for this section ‘Tickle Your Fancy’ is an English idiom and essentially means that something appeals to you and perhaps stimulates your imagination in an enthusiastic way, we felt it would make a great title for this new section of the site. We hope you enjoy this weeks’ selections, we have dedicated…

Welcome back to the twenty-seventh article in the column, Mobile Movies. We at TheAppWhisperer have been inspired by the Flickr upgrade of 1 Terabyte of storage for everyone and have wanted to launch a mobile movie section for some time. Now seems to be perfect, the new Flickr upgrade will allow for a full three minutes of 1080p HD quality video per single film and you can have as many as you have storage space for. Each week I (you can find me on Flickr here) will curate the movie uploads to our new Flickr group –MobileMoviesTheAppWhisperer – I will view all the videos uploaded and comment on the chosen ones. ”The…
