Number 74 Tranquil Vale, Blackheath, SE3 was where I found myself yesterday afternoon and it was not only an escape from the blazing sun. I squelched down into the well worn leather armchair and faded into a another world, a world of tranquility. A world that includes old and rare books, maps, art and furniture, just opposite Blackheath common. It’s a world of bookworm heaven, colloquially known as ‘the best bookshop in London’. Curiosities are paraded in the window displays, with tooled leather bindings, caches of rare treasures. The shop flatters every good taste with rarities on open shelves. How I Did It!™ Webinar: The Magic of Mobile with Rad Drew
It’s very hard for me to comprehend that there is a need for this effort; that our neighbours in the Ukraine are in such dire straights that they require the help of nations and of individuals, like you and me. Photographer Don Komarechka who lives near Varna, Bulgaria, has been making daily trips to the Ukrainian Refugee Center in Varna delivering food and other critical supplies. Seeing Don’s example, I asked what I could do to make a difference. In these trying times it can seem so hard to seek joy in the simpler things in life. Yet, it is vitally important to find solace wherever we can, for me, I turn to nature. Lighter mornings, longer days, bobbing daffodils, tweeting birds, they are all still there for us, helping to lead us away from fearful thoughts. Walking in nature, with camera phone in hand, can lead to a spontaneous forage of images.
