New Projects – Our New Form of Artistic Installation aka ‘The Quilt’ Is Ready!

2018-09-11 / Comments Off on New Projects – Our New Form of Artistic Installation aka ‘The Quilt’ Is Ready!

We’re delighted to inform our readers that the quilt that so many of you contributed to, has now been completed. For those of you not aware of this project, it involved mobile artists contributing one image and each one was then carefully included within a large quilt to be displayed at the next gallery show or even Mobile Arts Festival. There has been a few obstacles along the way and we have overcome each one. This quilt was sewed together and finalised by none other than mobile artist, Lorenka Campos’ mother in law. We all owe her much gratitude. The quilt is now with Lorenka Campos, so if you would…

    2018-07-30 / Comments Off on Mobile Photography – Instagram TAKEOVER with @armineh29 – Armineh Hovanesian – Day 10 – 14

We peered through Armineh Hovanesian’s looking glass during her takeover of our Instagram account for the past fourteen days. (If you’re unfamiliar with the theory of our Instagram Takeover’s, we ask artists to select work through their own gaze and each time we are further inspired). Hovanesian’s fourteen day vista reveals the human, social and also the hopes and dreams and delicate relationships of life around the world. What a complex, nuanced and vividly rendered takeover! You’ll see days ten to fourteen below, to view the complete set, please go here. Later today, you’ll see our new Takeover artist making her first selection(s), Jenny Pieters, will be here beginning her…

Visualising Mobile Photography and Art Interview with Joyce Harkin from the United Kingdom

2018-07-24 / Comments Off on Visualising Mobile Photography and Art Interview with Joyce Harkin from the United Kingdom

Today, we are publishing our twenty seventh visual interview, this time with Joyce Harkin from the United Kingdom. Harkin’s art is an amalgamation of dichotomies: inside/outside, public/private, high/low – all dynamic. Her images speak eloquently to us about our own life experiences at the same depicting her own. One of Harkin’s most admirable qualities as an artist, is her hunger for inspiration and this is reflected in her varied work. When embarking on a new creation, Harkin reaches the summit, she uniquely manages to not only arrive with an aesthetically pleasing visual image but one which ensures all the elements involved are included as intended.  I am so excited about…

Visualising Mobile Photography and Art Interview with Alon Goldsmith from the United States

2018-07-09 / Comments Off on Visualising Mobile Photography and Art Interview with Alon Goldsmith from the United States

Today, we are publishing our twenty sixth visual interview, this time with Alon Goldsmith from the United States. Goldsmith has created his own trademark style, as a pioneering mobile colour photographer. Goldsmith’s images are representative of european Harry Gruyaert’s (b.1941), when he courted Kodachrome while simultaneously exploding into the art scene which earned him entry into the hallowed Magnum photo agency in 1982. Goldsmith’s approach, much like American photographers William Eggleston and Stephen Shore, who were already taking advantage of colour potential and with which Gruyaert alined himself, have always been full of received wisdom. Each image of Goldsmith’s offers shades of colour, drawing in the viewer, he captures the prosaic moments of…

Mobile Photography & Art – Happy Thanksgiving Post…

2017-11-23 / Comments Off on Mobile Photography & Art – Happy Thanksgiving Post…

Happy Thanksgiving! This is our first year of asking mobile photographers and artists to contribute a Thanksgiving image, representing their thoughts, along with a few sentences expressing what mobile photography and art means to them and considering what they’re thankful for in relation to it. Some have mentioned our wonderful community, some have mentioned the actual hardware, all have made tremendous contributions and I am personally thankful to everyone who has participated in this ray of light. Please do note that I have been working on this article for over one month and round the clock the past few days, to try to ensure it was published today. If I…

2017-09-27 / Comments Off on Mobile Photography & Art – My Top Five Apps by Alon Goldsmith from Los Angeles, California, USA

We are revitalising our Top Five Apps section to our Photo App Lounge column. This a section within TheAppWhisperer where we ask highly accomplished mobile photographers and artists to list their top five apps and to explain why they have selected them. Kicking us off today is highly accomplished mobile photographer, Alon Goldsmith from Los Angeles, California, United States. “If you had asked me what my top five photo apps were a few years ago, I would have had a hard time narrowing it down. These days, I’m driven to create work with a more photorealistic feel, so I’m currently using apps less than in the past. That said, here are…

2017-04-11 / Comments Off on Mobile Photography StreetWise March 2017 Showcase

“Photography takes an instant out of time, altering life by holding it still.” Dorothea Lange Hello everyone! Thank you all for submitting your images to our StreetWise Flickr group during the month of March.  All we can say is “wow!” What incredible images submitted to our group from around the world. It is such an honor to share the showcases with you. Once again, our difficult challenge was to choose such few images for the showcase from all those that were submitted and we want you to know we appreciate each and every post. As a reminder, we choose images for the showcase that are in keeping with our group’s…

Mobile Photography Awards Sixth Annual Awards – Results!

2017-01-31 / Comments Off on Mobile Photography Awards Sixth Annual Awards – Results!

We’re delighted to reveal that the Mobile Photography Awards (MPA) 2016 Results have now been announced. As always we (I speak as a member of the Jury) were succumbed by the wealth of talent displayed across our screens. We’ve had more entries to this competition than ever before and the quality of submissions has been totally outstanding across all the categories. Personally, it was an honour for me to be asked to be a key member of this jury for the 5th consecutive year by founder of the Mobile Photography Awards, Daniel Berman and also to serve with James Bacchi, Annette Schutz, Evgeny Tchebotarev, Jen Pollack Bianco, Brendan O Se,…
