Samsung Electronics Integrates Digital Imaging Division With Mobile Communications Division
Well, it’s no surprise to us to read in the ETNews report, that we monitor, that Samsung have merged their camera and smartphone communication divisions into one. Smartphones and cameras are merging at an incredible rate of knots and the Samsung Galaxy hybrid is a key example of this trend. Samsung Electronics explained, “We will transplant the brand, sales networks, software competency and manufacturing competitiveness of the Wireless Business Division into the Camera Business Division, and integrate the technical know-how of the two business divisions into competency for differentiating our smartphones.” This is a big shakeup and perhaps wake up call to the industry by concentrating on one division Samsung…

Instagram – Updated With Instagram Direct!
Instagram was updated last night (GMT) with a brand new photo messaging service – similar to Snapchat. Instagram Direct allows you to send images and videos directly through the app to other people. There’s no ‘chat’ facility per se, it’s more about sending a singular image or video and then chatting about it. A photo or video is required to start a new conversation but up to 15 members can discuss the same media. When you open Instagram, you’ll now see a new icon in the top right corner of your home feed. We first wrote about Camera Plus Pro the more advanced version of this app for dpreview.com back in 2011, if you missed that, please go here. The latest update to Camera Plus brings with it some great features including three focus modes, macro, normal and far (perhaps distant may of sounded better) but nevermind.
