Mobile Photography & Art Flickr and Instagram Showcase – 31 January 2021

There is an area of photography that really interests me, actually it’s a ‘technique’ rather than an ‘area’ and it is applied in combination with ‘co-counselling’. It is called ‘visual reframing’ and essentially one image is examined (at a time) and each person discusses what it represents to them and how they would like to ‘change it’.  This is not to mean ‘change it’ in the sense of photo manipulation but therapeutically change the impression of what we think it is about. When you go through the process of ‘reframing’ you’re essentially, internally giving yourself permission to change, to let go, to move on. One thing it is not, is a process of dissecting the present to uncover whether it is biased but consists of discovering new avenues to reimagine the past allowing us to change our present activities.  When you begin this process, it is interesting to note how images of ourselves have formed opinions within us and how they can be linked back to adjectives, that may not even be our own and thus may be unhelpful as well as helpful. It is personal work and incredibly fascinating, this is an area that we will be exploring further within theappwhisperer and I will write additional information on how you can be involved next week (if you would like to be). For now, sit back and enjoy this weeks moving mobile photography and art showcase.
