The Greatest Mobile Photography / Art New Year Resolutions 2023 From Artists Throughout The World
For many 2022 was a blur, we find ourselves here in 2023 almost without realising it. We are all still trying to recover from the pandemic, physically, mentally and financially, there are few among us that it hasn’t taken its toll. Yet, here we are doing what artists do, creating, rejoicing and sharing. Enjoy this long read, it is such a good opportunity to check in on everyone. Thank you to all who have contributed to making this year’s resolutions making this one the biggest ever as always, if I have missed anyone, please know it was not intentional, remind me, send me your content, and I will open the…

Assignment ‘Deadpan’ – Result and Eighth Essay with Glenn Homann for our Forthcoming Book – Away with Words
I am truly delighted to publish our eighth essay for our forthcoming book ‘Away with Words‘. Our chapter this time was entitled ‘Deadpan‘ and we received a vast array of submissions. Eventually, we settled on this image by Glenn Homann, we feel it fulfilled the brief for Deadpan, generally meaning devoid of emotion. It is a subject that exists but it seems empty. There is no happiness and there’s no sorrow. It is honest work, it is detached art. It asks more questions than it answers. Many congratulations to Glenn and I hope you all enjoy reading my essay. Please note that this section is not a ‘typical challenge’ section,…

Mobile Photography / Art New Year Resolutions 2021 From Artists Throughout The World
2020 has been an unstable and blistering year and the idea of making New Year Resolutions for 2021 seems overwhelming. Susan Rennie, an Award Winning Mobile Artist from California, expressed it so well, she wants “to slough off the pandemic carapace of terror, debilitation and devitalisation and recover my pre-pandemic eagerness, energy, enjoyments, explorations in creativity”. And Award Winning artist Lisa Cirenza, who managed to relocate from the UK to France during the pandemic expressed “at one point during my battle with C-Beast, I found I really didn’t think I’d ever have the energy to accept and reflect, to lead a creative life again full of roads unknown“. For Kate…

Sixth New Assignment Announced ‘Recognition’ for our Forthcoming Book ‘Away with Words’
In January we announced a brand new Assignment section to TheAppWhisperer offering an opportunity for mobile photographers and artists to enter into a monthly assignment on a subject matter that we have individually crafted. This new section is another ground breaking topic within our community. Like so many of the sections within TheAppWhisperer, has not been done before, in this way. Photographic images have reflected and shaped culture since the inception of the medium and this is non more so apparent than shown within mobile photography and art. The power of mobile art today is inevitably entangled with the diverse tolerances that cultures have in relation to photographs and the…

Mobile Photography & Art – Tickle Your Fancy #62
Welcome back to our sixty second post in our Tickle Your Fancy section. ‘Tickle Your Fancy’ includes a round-up of between seven to eight links to articles from around TheAppWhisperer over the past few week, that you may by chance have missed. Please note, I’ve been a little unwell this week, so have not published as much as I wanted to. Just to explain the title for this section Tickle Your Fancy is an English idiom and essentially means that something appeals to you and perhaps stimulates your imagination in an enthusiastic way, we felt it would make a great title for this new section of the site. Artists cited include…

Mobile Photography & Art – Flickr Group Showcase – 4 October 2018
Mobile photography has capsulated self portraiture, or selfies as they are known. Offering the ultimate notion of control, you’re not trusting someone else to capture you, you’re deciding how to frame yourself, you’re not relying on someone else to make you look good. The paradox at the heart of selfies is that they masquerade as a candid shot but in reality they are posed and often heavily edited. But at least for the younger audience, looking good, is not good enough, you need to look good in extreme scenarios. There’s a blurring between the lines of reality and fantasy, until they collapse into one another. Such was the case this…
