Welcome to our eleventh Portrait of an Artist Showcase! This Showcase complements our Portrait of an Artist Column edited by Jennifer Bracewell. Every two weeks Jennifer will review and curate work that has been submitted to our dedicated Flickr group. In addition, to creating a showcase video which features a sampling of submitted work, we will also highlight a few images that have caught our attention… offering some thoughtful commentary about technique, composition and subject matter.
This week Jennifer has selected her favourite images and reviewed them. We hope you enjoy this.
If you are not a member of our Facebook group… we highly recommend that you join us! This is our space for sharing newsworthy information and conducting discussions (what, when, where, why and how) regarding mobile portraiture and portraiture in general.

‘About old people and what age does’ – Mariette Schrijver
This portrait is a bit spooky and reminiscent of Nosferatu. I love the injection of green and the textured scarf, it makes me want to know more about its creation and the ideation behind it. well-done, Mariette.

“Drenched in Vitamin D” by Armineh Hovanesian
Sometimes simple is best, as Armineh demonstrates in this stark black and white self-portrait. I love the use of negative space and curves of her beautiful profile. bravo!

“Behind the Window” by Vanessa Vox
Vanessa has created a beautiful mystery with her self-portrait. I want to know what she’s thinking as she gazes out the foggy window. Lovely mood!
