Apple Launches Dedicated Accessibilty Website and we are Excited!

2016-10-28 / Comments Off on Apple Launches Dedicated Accessibilty Website and we are Excited!

Apple premiered their Keynote yesterday with a video highlighting their brand new Accessibility website. I was immensely touched by this, not only because I have a disability myself but I have dear friends and family, as many of us do, with disabilities and anything that technology can do to help us all feel and be more involved within this world, is a truly wonderful thing. This morning, I have spent some time with my audiologist, I have moderate to profound hearing loss and wear hearing aids full time. These are a life line but they do present problems for me, in certain situations.  When using the telephone, I receive a…

When I was a young girl, one of my great pleasures was creating plays with my best girlfriend. When I say ‘plays’, perhaps they would be better described as audio recordings, on cassette tape, like a radio show. Rachel and I would spend hours on the scripts and each take on multiple roles within the same recording. It was not just due to economic necessity that we each played multiple parts, it was also hugely fun. These plays were complex and sophisticated and allowed us to express all the emotions we had building inside us, from outside sources.  With today’s technology, it’s so much easier to turn turn narration into…

Each take your image, run a Threshold filter on it, and apply it to a wall as if you’ve stenciled it there. Each allow you to add extra paint and text. Each also run on both the…

Apple Reinvents the Wireless Headphone with AirPods

2016-09-08 / Comments Off on Apple Reinvents the Wireless Headphone with AirPods

Not so good for stealth mobile street photography… what are your thoughts? Yesterday, Apple introduced AirPods, innovative new wireless headphones that use advanced technology to reinvent how we listen to music, make phone calls, enjoy TV shows and movies, play games and interact with Siri, providing a wireless audio experience not possible before. AirPods eliminate the hassles of wireless headphones, by just flipping open the lid of its innovative charging case and with one tap, they are instantly set up and ready to work with your iPhone and Apple Watch. Advanced sensors know when you are listening and automatically play and pause your music. Using Siri, AirPods allow you to access your favourite personal assistant with just…

Art with an iPhone by Kat Sloma – Book Review and Competition!

    2016-06-29 / 3 Comments

“This books passes muster as a great instructional tool for the novice mobile artist – A Classic”, Joanne Carter, 2016 Recently in a cafe I was hungrily perusing ‘Art with an iPhone – A Photographer’s Guide to Creating Altered Realities’ by American Fine Art Photographer, Writer and Instructor, Kat Sloma, when a woman I knew touched me on the shoulder and asked what I was reading. I considered this question as I glanced up and around at all the other customers in the cafe and noticed that most of them were engrossed with their iPhones, possibly (hopefully) apping images. ‘It’s a book about creating art with an iPhone’, I replied.…
