2018-09-11 / Comments Off on New Projects – Our New Form of Artistic Installation aka ‘The Quilt’ Is Ready!

We’re delighted to inform our readers that the quilt that so many of you contributed to, has now been completed. For those of you not aware of this project, it involved mobile artists contributing one image and each one was then carefully included within a large quilt to be displayed at the next gallery show or even Mobile Arts Festival. There has been a few obstacles along the way and we have overcome each one. This quilt was sewed together and finalised by none other than mobile artist, Lorenka Campos’ mother in law. We all owe her much gratitude. The quilt is now with Lorenka Campos, so if you would…

iPhotographer Magazine – What’s It All About?

    2013-08-16 / 3 Comments

A brand new iOS mobile photography magazine has landed in the Apple Newsstand (there’s been a few recently) and is ready for download. We were lucky enough to be sent a Press Release from the Editor-In-Chief, Knox Bronson more widely known for the popular mobile art website – P1xels—The Art of the iPhone. Coming from the print industry as Editor of many photography titles, with years of experience of both National and International publications, of course this was of particular interest to me. I viewed the Preview issue of this monthly title. The preview issue is a sample and smaller version of the regular monthly issue and it includes content…

‘Streets Ahead’ – Brand New Women’s Street Photography Column By JQ Gaines and Maddy McCoy

    2013-04-26 / 18 Comments

We are incredibly excited to announce that JQ Gaines and Maddy McCoy have joined The App Whisperer with a brand new Column entitled ‘Streets Ahead’. JQ Gaines already contributes to Parallel ll Perspectives with Catherine Restivo but this Column is very different and unique, as indeed they are all. The story behind the creation and concept of ‘Streets Ahead’ is an interesting one. One cold February night in 2013, Maddy McCoy and JQ Gaines found themselves walking up 8th Avenue (in NYC), engaged in an animated conversation that centered around a shared belief that women street photographers are under represented in the mobile photography community. Street photography has long been…

Lens As Palette – New Exhibition

2013-04-17 / Comments Off on Lens As Palette – New Exhibition

LENS AS PALETTE, curated by James Clarke, will be an exhibition that looks to examine the concept of digital photography through the exploration of technology.  Coupled with mobile software applications, many artists, with  smart phones in hand, are re-examining the boundaries of traditional image creation.
