SAMSUNG TO HOST “SAMSUNG GEAR APP CHALLENGE” FOR GEAR 2 APPS
Samsung Electronics announced that it will be holding a worldwide app challenge for Gear 2 app developers, “Samsung Gear App Challenge”, to support the wearable app market. The challenge will be the third in the series of “Samsung Smart App Challenges” and is part of Samsung’s plan to continuously innovate the wearable app industry. After unveiling the Samsung Gear 2 for the first time in February, Samsung distributed a software development kit (SDK) for the Gear 2 to developers free of charge. Samsung is calling for ideas on where to send its user-controlled camera-bot, the NX Rover, next. Inspired by Mars exploration rovers, the space-like NX Rover has so far travelled over 10,000 miles and taken over 3,000 pictures, all with ordinary people behind the lens, controlling it online. Flickr App Updated To Include Video Capture
Flickr have unveiled a major update to both their iOS and Android versions of their app. The new design and new features include the ability to capture and edit videos, in combination with applying live filters. Search features have also been overhauled and also due to recent acquisitions on Flickr’s part, searching is faster and there’s a new tagging system that can auto detect objects, colours and scenes.
