Meporter, a local mobile newsdesk for professional and citizen journalists, announced its launch at TechCrunch Disrupt on Tuesday, May 24 in New York City. The company is one of 29 startups selected to launch during the event’s Startup Battlefield. The Startup Battlefield event at Disrupt features 29 companies (one being Meporter) to compete to be the winner.

Local community members can pinpoint where news is happening down to the street address or intersection. News eyewitnesses can use Meporter to report on anything from traffic and weather, to nightlife, local politics, entertainment, or anything else. This app takes some risks that set it apart from most children’s stories.
