Players control the thrust and direction of a flying turtle wearing cola-powered jet boosters. The immense popularity of the game is attributed to the many methods players can use to level up, and the exciting, vertical scrolling gameplay.

Played in portrait orientation, the game has two stages, "Fly to the Moon" and "Save Dr. Winston," with a total of 15 levels. Players can keep track of the amount of the turtle’s life remaining, main engine fuel remaining, and booster fuel remaining. The main engine is controlled by the engine button in the lower right of the screen, and orange exhaust is visible directly beneath the turtle. Strap-on boosters are located on the left and right and drop off following burnout. When all power is used up, the player falls back to Earth and prepares for their next flight.

During the turtle’s ascent he can collect diamonds, collect cans of spinach, recover a 1 life icon, recover a main engine fuel icon, or recover a booster fuel icon. The turtle’s special ability, which can be activated by collecting three spinach cans, is that he is impervious to damage from blimps. The remaining six characters each have their own special abilities. The game is finished upon completion of the achievement in Level 6 (reach a height of 30,000 feet, winning $50,000).

Following each flight, players have an opportunity to shop for items that will help them. There are three kinds of items that can be purchased: Equipment (engine, booster, shell, fuel tank, engine fuel conserver, booster fuel conserver, an advanced flight controller, and a protective flying hat); Commodities (spinach cans, higher exchange rate for diamonds, and a VIP for a discount on store items); and Abilities (reduced air resistance, reduced wind resistance, and reduced damage from hitting obstacles). The first five Levels each have four Achievements, which pay a larger amount of money at each level: $100, $400, $1,200, $3,500, and $6,500. Princessy Cupcakes, a new children’s game app from Pink Princess Games, was made live last week in the iTunes market. This innovative app lets a child build a picture of their own cupcake, complete with patterned wrappers, multiple cupcake flavors, colorful icing, and sprinkles of their choice. Princessy Cupcakes players can then share their creation with adorable stuffed animals in the The Pink Princess Shop, or by saving it as a photo and sending it via text, email, or Facebook. Friends and family can swap virtual cupcakes, and show off their cupcake-design skills.

Princessy Cupcakes can be downloaded for free in the iTunes store, and paid in-app upgrades can be made for a wider range of decorating options, including princess toppers to garnish a freshly decorated cupcake. The app is based on the popular Facebook page, The Pink Princess Shop, which has built a community and loyal following around cupcakes, unicorns, princesses, and other fairy tale icons.

Princessy Cupcakes owner, Kim Byrne of Pink Princess Games, saw a demand for the app in Spring, 2011, after her Facebook page grew steadily in popularity. Calculator, from Byte Works, is a full-featured scientific calculator for your iPhone or iPod touch. It includes six calculators that change with a tap on the screen. This release updates Calculator for the latest versions of iOS while maintaining compatibility with older versions.

The initial screen is a scientific calculator with 14-digit precision that pays attention to the little details. For example, some iPhone calculators report that the natural log of 0 is infinity. This is incorrect; it is undefined, and this calculator says so. Other calculators have trigonometric functions that are ill behaved for very small arguments, but this one has correct numerical behavior.

The logic calculator supports four bases and several logic calculations. It is easy to enter, manipulate, and display numbers in base 2, 8, 10 or 16, and a single tap of a button converts between the bases.
