Kaleidoscope Camera
Binary Noise Ltd today is pleased to announce Kaleidoscope Camera 1.5 for iOS, their advanced, interactive, live-view Kaleidoscope Camera application. Both a camera and an exploratory visual toy, Kaleidoscope Camera features a digital kaleidoscope with six different symmetry configurations, including an infinite spiral and a mesmerizing mandala, turning an iPhone or iPad into an artistic camera that can create complex kaleidoscopic photographs. The current update adds support for the Retina display on the New iPad.
With Kaleidoscope Camera, kaleidoscopes are no longer limited to old school toys with hexagonal mirror configurations. Kaleidoscope Camera transforms images via a user’s mobile device camera, creating an opportunity for visual play and artistic photography. This unique app takes a live camera view and multiplies it using advanced symmetries to produce artistic views and photographs, even from everyday objects.
Creating kaleidoscopic art with Kaleidoscope Camera is effortless. Users simply aim the camera at an object or scene, choose from one of six symmetry configurations, and press the camera button to take the photo. Complex, ever-changing patterns give users the opportunity to choose the resulting image. Users may influence the pattern of the kaleidoscope by manipulating the image on the screen through finger swipes. Users may change the direction or speed of the spin, as well as zoom in on the image. Using the photographer-facing camera, the app can also be used to create kaleidoscopic portraits. The photographs made by Kaleidoscope Camera can be saved onto the user’s device or shared instantly via email, Facebook, or Twitter.

Cool to be Clever: Edson Hendricks
How was the Internet really invented? And what is the link to schoolyard bullying? Cool to be Clever, an iPad app for youngsters that combines biography with video interviews, anti-bullying resources and pre-Internet documents, has been downloaded by thousands of families and schools from 50 countries. Awareness is quickly spreading, fanned by enthusiastic reviews from "mommy-bloggers" and children’s app review sites.
This breakthrough app – the first extensively enhanced ebook app of its genre – is based on the true story of Edson C. Hendricks, the genius who invented the design for the Internet. The story was written by Leanne Jones, a former primary school teacher who is now a private detective. The app was developed by Agio Studios of Victoria, BC, Canada. Hendricks himself was recruited to narrate the story and appears in 12 video interviews on topics such as "People who are different," "Predicting the future at IBM," "Being bullied" and "Advice to today’s programmers." Jones composed and performed the musical score.
School Fonts
demografix pty ltd, creators of School Fonts for the iPhone, have created an app that certainly sets a new benchmark for an educational app. Suitable for children to adults, School Fonts allows the teacher or parent to prepare lessons using written instructions, unique images and audio instructions, to which the student can respond using written and audio recordings. Students learn shapes, letters, numbers, words and more limited only on what a teacher or parent can create as lessons. This ‘open scaffold’ extends the use of School Fonts far beyond early education and is suitable through to adult education.
"One of the most powerful tools a teacher or parent will find in any iPhone app, utilizing the technologies effectively and certainly a must have educational app for schools and home education" stated Mt Paul Collins of demografix pty ltd.
The app presents the approved fonts for your school, including individual Cursive letters. School Fonts contains the education-approved handwriting fonts used in the United States of America schools – Zaner-Bloser and D’Nealian, UK and Australia.
A really cool feature of the app is that it will automatically email to the teacher or parent the student’s tracings and audio recordings as a webpage at the end of a completed lesson.
Clearly designed with education in mind, School Fonts relies on the ability of the teacher or parent to review the student’s work and provide external recognition and reward for good work or effort, so the ‘bells and whistles’ are kept to a minimum. This evaluation is assisted with unique features such as the tracing ‘Reset’ button having a counter and traces that can be ‘replayed’ and are not automatically erased after the app is closed.
School Fonts maximizes the flexibility for a teacher or parent who wants to customize the content. Teacher or parents can create for example, words with missing letters with unique images and unique audio recordings, that will provide a rich learning environment that can be adapted to the student’s progress. It seems unlimited activities can be created such as spelling lists where the student can write the word and record the spelling, circle the vowels, write the opposite, to name only a few. The possibilities are endless and seem only limited only by the teacher’s imagination.
Teacher tracing allows teachers to record their own example tracings for each letter and number, which replay when the student taps the ‘Learn’ button. Teacher tracing offers the ability to record audio behind the tracing to replay for letter sounds or phonetics or as simple tracing instructions. This allows for regional variations of the letter sounds.

The developer Haypi constantly adds new features to the game, such as new levels, new dragons, new tasks, new items, and activities. The latest 1.4 version of the app includes two new dragons: the Devil dragon Satan and the Naughty dragon Shell. Same as all the characters in Haypi Dragon, the newly added Satan and Shell also look simple but vivid and original. In the newest version, the developer has added two more scenes: the Scenic Gulf and the Active Volcano. There is also an expression system added to the graphics. It makes the characters that fight in otherwise brutal and fierce battles, to become emotional creatures in the players‚ eyes.
Haypi Dragon is not only extremely original in design, but the battles are also very diverse. The PVP mode is a challenge and it makes the game different every time, constantly taking the players to newer magical scenes. Players can go to battles with other real players from all over the world. They can choose them to be either teammates or enemies. In the newest version, 20 more PVP scenes have been added, so players may be in a different spot each time they enter.

Car Xpenses
Umbrella Corporation, a renowned software developer specializing in mobile productivity applications, is pleased to announce that the latest version of its popular car maintenance app, Car Xpenses – Manage Vehicle Maintenance, has been improved by a round of significant upgrades inspired, in part, by critical user feedback. Car Xpenses for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, changed the way car owners care for their vehicles – allowing users to manage vehicle expenses, servicing, and maintenance with little more than the tap of a fingertip. Version 1.4, released on April 28 and available now at iTunes, is even more dynamic, with several added features and improvements.
Version 1.4 of Car Xpenses – Manage Vehicle Maintenance gives users the option of personalizing their vehicles in the Car Service Events calendar, making it even easier for users to customize their own effective, and unique, method of maintaining the condition and servicing of their vehicles. Several bug fixes have been completed, and a new Notes feature within the calendar makes it easy for users to keep abreast of all the information they need, when they need it. The recent upgrades have driven even more positive conversation toward Car Xpenses, which – even in its early iterations – was considered a game-changing application in offering car owners a better way to efficiently track and manage vehicle servicing, maintenance, and repair costs.
"The responses have been so overwhelming from the start – we certainly believe that we have created a disruptive product in the sense that Car Xpenses is, literally, changing the way people go about caring for, and maintaining, their vehicles," said Amr El Rafie, the founder of Umbrella Corporation. "In this latest round of enhancements, we paid special attention to make sure that we responded directly to the substantial user feedback Car Xpenses has garnered. That said, version 1.4 has been customized to better meet user expectations and offer more dynamic, comprehensive, and efficient modes of vehicle care, servicing, and maintenance."
