Latest apps and updates to hit the iTunes app store today…
Movie Genius Pro
Renniksoft, an emerging new mobile applications and software developer, is excited today to announce a month-long promotion on Movie Genius and Movie Genius Pro for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. From now until the end of June app shoppers can get Movie Genius Pro – or upgrade to the full version of the app via in-app purchase – for only $1.99! A unique new mobile film suggestion guru, Movie Genius lets users find movies by similar plots and themes, build up their rep in the app by rating movies they’ve already seen, and finding movies they’re sure to love! Normally $4.99, Movie Genius Pro is currently available in the App Store for only $1.99 through the end of June in the Entertainment category. Upgrading free versions of the app is only $1.99 too!
Conventional movie suggestion guides tend to have the same M.O. Users pick an actor or director and are shown a list of titles that either features films by them or films that are most like those. Movie Genius eschews this outdated method, instead letting users show which plots, themes, and genres they tend to enjoy and go from there.
Movie Genius is as expansive as it is social. The app’s vast yet easily searchable film database contains tens of thousands of diverse titles, each of which come complete with cast information, plot synopsis’, and other useful information. Saving search results is a breeze too, as is sharing compelling new movies with the world at large via email, Twitter, or Facebook! Finding new movies to watch shouldn’t be an isolated or frustrating experience, and with the Movie Genius in your corner it won’t ever be again! Best of all, this June it won’t be hard on your wallet either at only $1.99.

Wordflex Touch Dictionary
Designed exclusively for the iPad by the London-based company SchematiX, Wordflex Touch Dictionary 1.1 a revolutionary language resource – formerly known as the Twig Touch Dictionary, and now upgraded to version 1.1 – turns entries into expansive "word trees" that users can freely rearrange, manipulate and explore with touch gestures, shrinking and expanding information to maximize the screen’s workspace. With a single tap they can open tree nodes and "badges" containing definitions, origin data, detailed notes and more, or hear audio pronunciations (in both U.S. and U.K. English). Double-tapping enables the selection of any content and allows context-sensitive functions like bookmarking, expanding into a new tree or clipboard copying.
The semantically detailed word trees include synonyms and antonyms, adding a thesaurus function to the dictionary interface. Wordflex users can also create "word posters" of the entries for sharing on Facebook and Twitter or via e-mail or hard-copy print-outs.
Users can even introduce an element of chance to their learning with the random function, which simulates "flying through" language; words float on the screen like stars, waiting to be explored.
The Wordflex Touch Dictionary combines a physics-based mind-mapping engine with nearly 1GB of linguistic content from three Oxford University Press titles: The Oxford Dictionary of English (the foremost single-volume authority on the English language, with 355,000 words, phrases and definitions); The New Oxford American Dictionary (Oxford’s flagship dictionary of U.S. English); and The Oxford Thesaurus of English (the gold standard of comprehensive synonym and antonym resources). These titles are powered by Oxford’s extensive language-research program, including the Oxford English Corpus, which contains over 2 billion words of real 21st Century English.
PaceDJ Running
Building upon the successful launch of the PaceDJ app for the iPhone in July 2011, Pacing Technologies, LLC has expanded its offering with a music discovery service and an Android app. The PaceDJ product family is a patented system designed to help runners, walkers and cyclists synchronize their pace with the tempo of songs.
The PaceDJ iPhone and Android running apps build music mixes based on target pace or tempo, marked in steps-per-minute (rotations-per-minute for cyclists), using songs on a user’s iPhone or Android with matching tempos in beats-per minute (BPM). The apps can be used without the purchase of additional music when a user has exercise-appropriate songs already on their device. App users can shuffle and prioritize songs in mixes based on preference. Additionally, if users don’t know what BPM are best for running or walking, the apps’ pedometer technology can measure pace automatically.
The new PaceDJ.com music discovery service enables fitness and music enthusiasts to find, purchase, and download songs with tempos that sync with their desired exercise pace or tempo. PaceDJ.com allows users to search for workout-inspired playlists, helps estimate target pace and recommends appropriate songs. Motivated and paced by the music they love, users can attain and exceed their workout goals.

Ledger
Lucas Gladding has released Ledger 3.0.2, which brings a streamlined interface and unique financial reporting capabilities to the accounting application. It also features camera, address book, and maps integration, an embedded calculator, and AirPrint support. Ledger is available on the iTunes App Store for $3.99.
Ledger is a double-entry bookkeeping solution, and is designed for personal and small business accounting. New with version 3.0, the financial reporting system creates balance sheets, income statements, trial balances, and more. The reporting system also supports custom accounting periods and spreadsheet, email, and print formats.
Lucas says: "I have always found finance applications frustrating, as most hide standard accounting behind interfaces that vary from app to app. Splits and transfers are where these differences are most obvious. In contrast, Ledger uses a simple interface to reveal the accounting behind transactions. While double-entry bookkeeping requires some learning from users without accounting experience, the [learning] curve is in the accounting, not the app."

PubliGeneration
AppGeneration introduces its own digital publishing platform, PubliGeneration, through which publishers can make their newspapers or magazines available to a global audience. The concept is unique in the market for two reasons: AppGeneration does not charge a sales commission of the publications (only an annual flat-fee). Secondly, publishers are also completely in control of their publications as they use their own iTunes developer account to upload them.
Through PubliGeneration it is now possible for publishers to have their own branded magazine or newspaper app that is compatible with Apple’s Newsstand for iPad and iPhone users. Publishers have full control over what they publish and over prices, banners and advertising and they can use current formats with no additional work. It’s also possible to sell old issues to new users and grant those who are subscribed to the paper edition free access to the digital one.
Eduardo Carqueja (CEO AppGeneration): "Mixing with an older subscribers database and link customer logins to the new subscribers database is not a problem at all."
In addition publishers can also use PubliGeneration’s statistical tools to get reader profiles by country, age and gender and see how many hours people spend reading each title. Since it’s possible to see the number of readers per title, they can cross sell more effectively. And as they are in full charge of their titles, they can manage all the prices in the back office and change them without any delay, making promotions easy to implement.
For the readers, the digital experience is "amazing," says Carqueja. "Readers can pan and zoom with high efficiency, swipe pages fast and easily or check all the pages at once, so they can easily navigate within the publication."
Additionally they can also search for any text, word or sentence in the publication and see all the matching pages highlighted. After closing the page they can open it again and find themselves in the same page where they stopped reading. It is also easier for publishers to stay connected to their readers, as the latter receive push notifications from newsstand when new titles go out.

Kick-Off
Kick-Off tackles the history of football right from its roots in 2 B.C. China through its organisation into the game we recognise today. The e-book is packed with rare, vintage videos including some of the oldest recorded clips of football dating back to the 1900s and offers a unique insight to the development of the game throughout its history. A particular highlight is a video clip of a young Pele announcing his precocious talent during the final of the 1958 world cup.
"Publications released on our iPad and Android magazine reader are not simply glorified PDFs like the majority of publications released on tablets. Magazines and e-books sold using our platform come to life with videos and live features that make reading them a fully interactive and entertaining experience. Now the history of football leaps off the screen through fantastic vintage videos and web features. The goal for Kick-Off was to make it as exciting as the game it chronicles; we know football fans around the globe will have a fantastic experience reading and watching Kick-Off," said Mars Mlodzinski, company partner at Leading Brands.
The book also features a competition that offers readers the chance to win an autographed print of Gordon Banks making football’s most iconic save against Pele’s header at the 1970 Mexico World Cup.
