Yahoo! Picks Up KitCam and PhotoForge To Strengthen Flickr
KitCam and PhotoForge have long been favorite apps of many iPhone photographers – sadly these apps are no longer available or at least currently available in the Apple App store as Yahoo! has acquired the developers – GhostBird. Ever since Flickr upgraded their photo sharing site they’ve been on the look out to offer more, they were seriously lacking in the photo editing space and by picking up PhotoForge they can fill that niche very nicely. KitCam too is/was a fabulous filter app, so it looks like the entire GhostBird portfolio and their team have been gobbled up. We have requested additional information and at soon as that’s forthcoming we’ll…

Photo Toaster which is one of our favourite apps here at theappwhisperer.com has just under gone a serious update! There’s a new FX brush that allows you to brush in areas of color or focus. This is incredibly powerful when coupled with the Toaster editing environment. You might think of it as a mini-app within the app. There’s added brightness and blur adjustments. These are particularly useful when softening up an image as a background for titling. And titling is more integrated with a direct link to their TitleFx app, as an export option. The Toaster also hit the gym for the new year. Everything is now noticeably faster. Opening…

Opinion – iOS 7 – A Developers Point of View
We’ve been having a few discussions with some photo app developers today, asking for their opinions on the new iOS 7 camera/photo features. Take a look at the developer of ProCam and PhotoStation, Majed Azzam’s reponse below… "The prevalent discussion surrounding iOS 7 prior to yesterday’s unveiling revolved around flat versus skeuomorphic design. However, in our view, the star of the show at WWDC was iCloud. Apple is still focused on services through its cross-platform ecosystem (Maps, iRadio, iTunes, App Store, iBooks, iWork for iCloud, iCloud Keychain, etc.), which is the very heart of it’s success – everything else is window dressing. This is very clear in the direction Apple…
