Getty Images – Grants for Editorial Photography
We all believe that photojournalism is a powerful tool for telling compelling social, political and cultural stories. We also understand that creating and managing world-class photography assignments requires time, freedom, support and considerable resources. That is why Getty continue to offer the Grants for Editorial Photography, which in 2015 will provide five total grants of $10,000 each to photojournalists pursuing projects of personal and journalistic significance. William Daniels Receives 2014 Tim Hetherington Grant – World Press Photo
World Press Photo and Human Rights Watch are pleased to announce that the French photographer William Daniels has been awarded the fourth annual Tim Hetherington Grant. Daniels, represented by the London-based agency Panos Pictures, was selected for his work on the Central African Republic, a project entitled ‘Roots of Africa’s Unholy War’. He will receive a grant worth 20,000 euros to complete the project. The jury, meeting in New York on 10 December, selected the winner from among 198 applications. Read more here

The Alexia Foundation is pleased to announce that it is now accepting applications for its 2015 Professional and Student Grants. The deadline for submissions for the Professional Grant is 2 p.m. Jan. 29, 2015. The deadline for the Student Grant is 2 p.m. on Feb. 2, 2015. The goal of The Alexia Foundation Grants is to give voice to those who go unheard, foster cultural understanding and expose social injustice. Firecracker Photographic Grant 2014 – Applications Now Open
The Firecracker Photographic Grant is an annual award providing funding for a female photographer, to aid in the completion of a documentary photographic project. Through a combination of self-initiated fundraising and with the generous support of Genesis Imaging, the Grant fund is a minimum financial contribution of £1,000 plus £1,000 credit of professional printing, mounting and framing services from Genesis Imaging. Applications are open to women photographers born or residing in Europe and submissions are judged by an independent panel of industry specialists from a cross section of disciplines and sectors, including picture editors, commissioners, art buyers and gallerists. Getty Images Offering $130,000 Grants to Editorial & Portrait Photographers
We have mentioned this previously, see here, but just as a reminder, photographers have until 15 May to submit their work for a chance to win one of this year’s Getty Images Grants. This year, as it celebrates the programme’s 10-year anniversary, Getty Images will be offering six Editorial photography prizes, three Creative Grants for non-profit organisations and photographers, and one Portrait award – totalling $130,000 in cash prizes.
