Top 10 Android Bike Apps
We recently complied a great top 10 iPhone and iPad Biking app list which has proved to be immensely popular. We didn’t want all our Android friends missing out, so we have put together the Top 10 Android Biking Apps too – take a look at these, and get downloading.
B.iCycle
The popular iPhone biking app now available on the Android platform! B.iCycle – GPS cycling computer for Road & Mountain Biking is a next generation cyclometer for your phone.
– Accurate values for current speed, average speed, maximum speed, total distance, trip distance, current altitude, climbed altitude, burned calories as well as trip time. Units can be set to US or metric.
– Watch your bike automatically move on the map and zoom in on your trail
– Receive your trips via email (KML and GPX) and review them at home (e.g., with Google Earth) or share them with other bikers. You can send the data after each ride or anytime later from your track history (e.g. when there is no cellular network available).
– Suspend, pause, and resume for trips allows you to receive calls or take a break
Based on countless test rides and refinement we calculate all values with maximum precision of the built in GPS. In contrast to standard cyclometers you do not have to calibrate B.iCycle to your bike. It just works – out of the box. For the full experience we recommend to use a bike mount.
My Tracks
My Tracks allows you to record and share your GPS tracks, including statistics. – More sensor support coming soon
* ANT and SRM support requires an ANT-compatible phone)

Any recommendations for a hardware solution that doesn’t use GPS? Ideally this would be useful for a stationary bike (bike on a stand, etc).

Found anything? thats exactly what I am looking for.

I’m also looking for exactly this. Did you find anything in the end?

It is definitely something that a lot of people would enjoy. But how would this work? With the camera? That’ll use a lot of battery (you could charge your phone while cycling tho).

Yeah, if something like this exists, then I’d be all for it. I’m imagining a device that plugs into the mini-USB port of an Android phone (or just has a regular USB port and can have any smartphone with the appropriate app plugged in). The device would attach to a wheel to serve as a dynamo and supply the 5V needed to charge the device, plus send the device data regarding how fast the wheel is spinning – and thus how fast the bike is travelling with certain input variables like the rim size.
That would be slick.

This looks like a great training aid. Thanks for drawing attention to it.
I do wonder sometimes if a rider can get more focused on numbers and computations than good old steady riding. How did the old Tour riders do what they did without all the current technology?

Sports Tracker is the best that I’ve found…. http://goo.gl/B5wKZ

I think BikeMateGPS for iPhone is the best application for the one who are looking for cycling computer but, based androids, it doesn’t seem to be the same as iPhone version.
however, still not bad!

Great review! Thanks for compilation of all the apps.

Actually, I think a great app for cyclists I use a lot is the Cycling Calculator on Android. I am a time trialer and I can estimate power and speed real easy. Check it out here:

Are these listed in order of 1-10 – best to worst or worst to best?

Does anyone know which of these or if any other app stops the timer (and all other functions) when you stop? The reason is, when I take a bike trip in the city and have to stop at the traffic lights, my average speed and time of the trip are affected. It is not handy at all to be pausing the app and starting it manually.

As a former military pilot I was taught to orient the map in the direction of travel. My car does that but do any of the trip tracking apps for Android?
