Apple iPad 3 Delayed Until 2012

AllthingsD are reporting that it is increasingly unlikely that the highly anticipated iPad 3 will launch until 2012. An analyst, Mark Moskowitz from J.P. Morgan, explains:

“In recent months, there has been rising investor speculation that a new iPad 3 would be launched for the holiday season,” Moskowitz wrote in a research note to clients. “Our latest research continues to indicate that there is no such device slated for production this year. … There are prototypes in the supply chain related to the next-generation device, but our conversations with industry participants suggest that a new device will not be available until sometime in calendar 2012.”

No Surprise

To be honest we’re not altogether surprised by this news. The iPad 2 is only 6 months old remember and is selling so well – surely there’s got to be another 6 months left to market? With Apple holding 68.3% of the tablet market they’re not going to be in a huge rush as they have no rivals, especially with all their patent cases.

So guys, put your wallets away, or just keep them handy for the imminent iPhone 5 and maybe iPhone 4 Gs – other than that, hold on to your tablet cash until 2012 and be prepared for something very hot.
