Top 5 Apps For iPhone Photography – Photo App Lounge – With Sean Hayes

Welcome to our new Photo App Lounge section of theappwhisperer.com. This is a very small area on our site where we ask highly accomplished iPhone photographers what their top five photo apps are and why.

Kicking us off today is Sean Hayes. We previously interviewed Sean for our A Day In The Life Of Series, see here and also our Extension Of The I series, see here. Sean is a Freelance Advertising Art Director by profession, and you can find out more about that here at www.wix.com/shonski/sean-hayes. Sean started shooting images with an iPhone in 2009 and began to submit work on a regular basis to sites such as www.iphoneart.com, www.eyeem.com and pixelsatanexhibition.com in 2010. Sean’s iPhone photography work has been exhibited in Los Angeles, Miami and Naples, Italy.

We caught up with Sean in between shoots and asked him what his top five photo apps are, this is what he said…

MacGyver would love this. It’s the Swiss Army knife of photo editing apps. All the editing tools you could ever want in one place. And then some. I use this app primarily to ‘prepare’ images for further processing.

Number 2 – 6×6

Love it for it’s square format and sheer simplicity of design and function. Options include Colour or B&W. That’s it really. Maybe it’s my imagination but the images ‘seem’ sharper and clearer than with other camera apps.

Number 3 – Camera+

My ‘go to’ app. All iPhoneographers have at one point or another downloaded this app. Very popular and rightly so. Great tools like ‘Clarity” that really allow your images to pop, even in low light conditions.

Number 4 – CinemaFX

Not well known this one. The video version is more prevalent. I use it for the ‘cinematic grades’ it gives to finished images. Subtle and classy.

Number 5 – PicGrunger

media_13395807969301.png

There are many ‘Grunge effect’ apps out there. But in my opinion, this one is the best. Lots of filters and backgrounds and controls that let you nuance it all nicely together.
