‘Probably this couple has been in Istanbul for the first time because you could see them showing architecture to each other. I had to follow them secretly to catch the best moment’.

Was this the first time you participated in this project, or have you taken part in previous years as well? If you participated previously, how didthis year’s experience differ from past experiences?

I participated in the project for the first time.

What city where you able to document?

Istanbul

What inspired you to take part in this project?

I’m a street photographer that’s why street concept of project made me excited.

Did you plan where to go or did you have an idea what you wanted to document, or did you let fate decide as you wandered through the streets?

I didn’t plan because I know that when you go out you always have things to shoot.

What was the biggest challenge you faced during the 24 hours?

I think nothing except the weather. The rain and cold were a bit tough, not for me but my device.

‘Transsexuals are always in one of the most insecure parts of the city. This time my camera told me to go there’.

Do you feel like the time pressure was beneficial to your creativity, or did it just make you nervous and diminish the quality of your images slightly?

It was beneficial especially for my productivity.

Did you develop a workflow for every hour in order to manage uploading your next image in time?

There was no schedule, I just took a seat in cafes to choose and send photos and then I kept on walking.

Did you follow the IG feed of other excellent photographers taking part in the project? Why or why not?

I couldn’t check the feed during the day but later I visited the 24hr page and tags.

What was your secret to staying up so long? Pure determination?

Too much coffee and tea.

Would you take part in this again next year?

Of course, I hope so.

Did you walk the whole 24 hours?

Yes I walked so much but didn’t think to go back. It’s my routine. I take photos by walking in my daily life.

What were some thoughts that ran through your mind when you were finally able to crash into bed?

I thought it was a pleasant day and i was satisfied.

Any final thoughts? (Optional)

It was a nice day and an enjoyable project. It’d be great to see photos in a book. I think it could be a good idea to collect 24hr photos in a book every year.
