Mobile Photography & Art Flickr and Instagram Showcase – 14 February 2021

This weeks it is my pleasure to lavish you with love within our showcase, not that we need it to be Valentine’s Day to do so, but it is rather apt that it is. Who would have thought we would have had such a tumultuous year, when we look back? Having lost my liberty for the best part of twelve months being rather forcibly placed within the ‘extremely clinically vulnerable‘ group of patients, I’ve now discovered I am suffering from a ‘survivor’s guilt’ of sorts having received my Covid-19 vaccination earlier this week. I have and am surrounded by my three ‘children’, albeit the youngest is on the cusp of turning 18 and of course my mainstay, brunette, all of whom have been working from home during this pandemic. The former have been torn between leaving the property on their permitted daily exercise with the riotous thoughts of returning with the virus insitu and the carnage which would likely ensue. But now that I am vaccinated I feel guilty that I am in the stronger position to combat this virus than they.  If this sounds like a first world problem to you, then it probably is. I am grateful to the  science, not least for the vaccine but for photography itself. ‘Photography would never have even been invented without theories of chemistry, geometry optics, and theories of light‘, (Bate, 2016). This valentine’s day, I am embracing love with all of us together, who knows where we’ll all be next year.  I’ve been planning a valentine’s family meal for a while now despite our kitchen churning out over twenty meals each day for the past year.  Enjoy this weeks showcase and bask in the love that surrounds you.
