What Apps Are We Using This Month? with Diane Monheit

Welcome to TheAppWhisperer’s new section, “What apps are we using this month” series, where we discover which apps you are particularly enjoying. Kicking us off today is non-other than notable Mobile Artist Diane Monheit.

At the invitation of Joanne Carter I would like to share some of my favorite apps I use to create my art. Living near Sacramento in Northern California I am Diane Monheit, a retired hospital librarian (8 years!).

I enjoy not only doing photography using my iPhone 13 Pro but also creating art on my iPad Pro. In the past year, I have been honing my skills while using Procreate, a very powerful app and so much fun to use. Besides classes offered, there are many YouTube videos on how to use it.

apps
“A Night on the Town” ©️Diane Adler Monheit For this I used Slow Shutter Cam which creates cool figures. Procreate was used to add textures and brush marks and then my images were placed in Frame Magic, an app with lots of templates to create a grid.

apps
“Howling at the Moon” ©️Diane Adler Monheit For this piece I used I/Colorama, Reflect, Elements from Skylab and Distressed FX as well as Procreate brushes.

apps
“Rainy day in Porto” ©️Diane Adler Monheit Using my own photo from a Slow Shutter Cam shot I took while on vacation in Portugal, I employed a variety of brushes from Procreate to add texture and ambience.

apps
“Apple Reflections” ©️Diane Adler Monheit This was created using one of my photos. I added it to Distressed FX for a painterly look, then to Procreate to add other textures and I/Colorama for a filter.

“Iris” ©️Diane Adler Monheit This piece was done using my image and placing it in iColorama to use a variety of filters and brushes.
