Mobile Photography Awards Seventh Annual Awards – Results!
We’re delighted to reveal that the Mobile Photography Awards (MPA) 2017 Results have now been announced. As always we (I speak as a member of the Jury) were succumbed by the wealth of talent displayed across our screens. We’ve had more entries to this competition than ever before and the quality of submissions has been totally outstanding across all the categories. Personally, it was an honour for me to be asked to be a key member of this jury for the 7th consecutive year by founder of the Mobile Photography Awards, Daniel Berman and also to serve with James Bacchi, Anette Schutz, Giles Clarke, Evgeny Tchebotarev, Brendan O Se, Susannah…

Mobile Photography & Art Flickr Group Showcase 29 January 2017
“There are so many things that art can’t do. It can’t bring the dead back to life, it can’t mend arguments between friends, or cure AIDS, or halt the pace of climate change. All the same, it does have some extraordinary functions, some odd negotiating ability between people, including people who never meet and yet who infiltrate and enrich each other’s lives. It does have a capacity to create intimacy; it does have a way of healing wounds, and better yet of making it apparent that not all wounds need healing and not all scars are ugly”. Another quote from the book that I am still studying (that I mentioned…

Mobile Photography & Art Flickr Group Showcase – 18 December 2016
“Yet in order to do almost anything, you have to act against the gravity of grief. It is heavy, it pulls you down, and you have to make a deliberate effort to overcome it. You have to decide that you won’t fall”. Wise words spoken by Israeli author David Grossman in a recent interview. So many in the world are grieving right now and we have to find ways to cope with this. To creatives, it is through art and this weeks mobile photography and art showcase is filled with brilliant images, a translation of artists emotions, is how I like to understand them. Each image has been created with…

Mobile Photography & Art Flickr Group Showcase – 21 February 2016
Powerful, philosphical and exquisitely observed, this weeks mobile photography and art Flickr Group Showcase features an almost musical quality, built on the impression of currents, flowing. The images weave through the theme, layered within each other, accentuating, that all things are possible. A vision of love and loss, friendship and oppression brought together with an almost clandestine feeling that, people are equal, their cirmcumstances are not. This is a showcase representing our simulatenous and sustained love of mobile photography and art. Enjoy… If you would like your work to be considered for entry into our weekly Mobile Photography and Art flickr group, please submit it to our dedicated group, here. If…

I hope you’re all following the posts relating to my lecture at the Seoul Museum of Art, South Korea on 23 September 2015. If you have missed any, please go here. I divided my two hour+ lecture into sections and I will now run through my fifth group of slides/my notes that I made in Part 5. In this section, as I knew that image collusions are very popular in the Far East, I wanted to…
