‘The Big Picture’ is an idiom we use for a number of expressions. As a noun, it may mean the overall scheme of something important, as opposed to the significant details. As an adjective it can be used to describe a scheme, such as ‘these are big picture projections, we’ll sort the details out later”. We also use it informally in conversation, such as one I was having with my eldest son this morning over breakfast, (he’s home from university).
