Yes folks, it’s finally happened The Daily has launched, Rupert Murdoch told a packed auditorium at the Guggenheim Museum in New York that he hoped it would be an ‘indispensable source of news’. The Daily will cost 99 cents (60 p) a week and will be sold exclusively via Apple’s iTunes Store. News Corp has hired over 100 journalists to write for it, this is what sets it apart. The Daily iPad Newspaper Launch Event February 2nd, 2011
With the excitement building News Corporation and Apple have set the launch date for The Daily to February 2nd, 2011. As you can see from the invitation below, Rupert Murdoch will be there along with Apple’s Eddy Cue, he’s stepping in for Steve Jobs, as we know is on medical leave. The event will start at 11:00 am EST at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum at 1071 Fifth Avenue. The Daily will cost $0.99 per week, it’s going to be interesting how this one pans out and whether consumers are prepared to pay for exclusive journalism.
