IntoWine Food & Wine Pairing iOS App Review

Once you have downloaded IntoWine to your iOS device, you will see a selection of food dishes to choose from. These include Beef, Brunch, Cheese, Chicken, Dessert, Duck, Ethnic Food, Lamb, Pasta, Pizza, Pork, Salad, Seafood and Turkey. Against each food description is an additional arrow which when selected gives you greater detail within the main menu to select the dish you are trying to pair with wine.

If for example, you have selected Beef as your dish, then within the additional menu you can select the relevant dish, such as Beef Bourguignonne. When you select that you are given a choice of the Type of Wine to go with it. In this case, a Red Burgundy, Pinot Noir. This app goes into further detail though and even recommends a specific bottle, again in this instance, J. Drouhin Chorey Les Beaune. There is also a Buy Wine option within this menu and by selecting that you get taken to the Wine Zap site with the recommended bottle of wine selected and price. You can add the bottle of wine to your shopping cart and purchase it directly if desired.

These few steps mean so much, to recap basically, you select your dish, the app recommends the relevant bottle of wine to accompany it and then you can purchase it online. That’s quite amazing. You can keep selecting your dishes and your wine to go along with it. Within the menu bar at the bottom of the app you can select Recommendations. This is another great feature of this app. Recommendations comprises of four additional choices. These include, Food Recommendations, Holiday Recommendations, Regional Recommendations and Varietals Recommendations.

By selecting Food Recommendations, you are met with a listing of various dishes. If you select any one, in this case we selected Lobster, you will then again be taken directly to the IntoWine website and be able read relevant information from contributors regarding their wine experiences with lobster. There are some very interesting antidotes and this is well worth reading.

By selecting Holiday Recommendations, you are met with a listing of various holiday celebrations. These include Christmas Gift Wine, Easter Dinner Wine, Halloween Wine and many more. We selected Easter Dinner Wine but unfortunately the page was not found, this also occurred when we selected 4th of July wine. All the other options worked and worked well. For example, with the New Years Eve Champagne recommendations and ideas we were met with a whole host of information which was an absolute pleasure to read. We can only imagine that the two other sections are being worked on at the moment and when you select them in the future you will be greeted with some great wine recommendations.

Regional Recommendations consists of wine recommendations from specific areas whether in France, Australia or many others. We looked at Bordeaux in France and once again were greeted with some fascinating wine facts of that particular region. This is a great feature of this app especially if you are traveling.

Varietals Recommendations consists of various wine categories, such as Chardonnay, Merlot, Zinfandel and many more and again takes you to the IntoWine website where interesting facts about these wines are available for you to read.

IntoWine Food & Pairing iOS app not only provides you with great information at your finger tips to help you select the correct wine to pair with the correct meal, it also offers you the opportunity to contribute your wine and food experiences too and share these with other users of this app.
