Welcome to another brand new section from your favorite mobile photography website and one of the most popular in the world. Today, we’re publishing our fifteenth Mobile Photography/Art Tip Of The Day to our brand new section of the site.

Every day we will publish a short quick tip to help you with your mobile photography, this may be related to editing your image, capturing your image, printing your image, all manner of things, across the complete photographic and art mobile genre – we’ll be featuring great mobile street photography tips, great blending tips, great cloning tips, we will cover it all from some of the greatest mobile photographers and artists in the world. Creating a Stylized Grunge Background From Scratch

‘With the style of work that I create, I have been often asked: “How did you do that?” Well, the vast majority of my pieces start with a cool background and then I build the piece from there. Here’s a neat little tip using three great apps that will allow you to create an infinite collection of cool, stylized grungified backgrounds.

Start with an app called GradientColorPro. This app allows you to create enumerable gradients in four different directions. You can either choose the hue for each section of the final gradient through a color wheel; through its hex number; or by table and chart mode. Below is one example:

Next, I bring the gradient into Glaze and apply presets to the gradient and let the app do what it does best creating infinite variations on the theme. I chose the one pictured below for this tip.

The final step is to open your Glazed image in Mextures, a fabulous texture and lighting manipulation app of the moment. I ran the Glazed piece through the Grunge & Emulsion options in the app utilizing a number of Presets and Blending Modes. The final output is viewed below.

This trick will allow you to create enumerable backgrounds of varying styles and appearance, which you can then save in a folder on your iOS device for use at some later point. Who needs to search for stock backgrounds or shoot a wall or sidewalk when you have the ability to create your own, customized version? Happy apping!’
