Instagram Mobile Photographers To Follow Now – @baljarek – TheAppWhisperer
This is a relatively new section to TheAppWhisperer.com, one where we hand-pick highly talented mobile photographers and artists from Instagram and bring them to your attention. I must confess with this one, I have long been a fan of @baljarek – Jarek’s mobile photography and this morning, whilst looking through Instagram, the image (the first one I have published below) of these structures from Copenhagen, Denmark, inspired me. I am very interested in Architecture, as readers will have seen in my recent BBC article featuring this genre from the Mobile Photography Awards . I was compelled with these architectural images, particularly as many harbour a human element and that intrigues…

It’s such a pleasure to be invited by Joanne Carter to share my mobile phone video tutorials in the new TheAppWhisperer section, How I Did It!™ with Rad Drew. Thank you for this opportunity, Joanne! Visualising Mobile Photography Interview with Kate Zari Roberts
I am so excited about this new Interview section within TheAppWhisperer. A picture speaks a thousand words, so says the English language idiom and as this is a website by and for visual artists, we felt this section was long overdue. We asked a series of mobile photographers and artists ten questions, in text format and we asked them to respond in their very best way, visually and in their own style of photography/art, the results are unique and incredibly exciting. To read our previously published interviews, with Deborah McMillion, M. Cecilia Sao Thiago, Christine Sobczak, Liliana Schwitter, Armineh Hovanesian, Lorenka Campos, Donna Donato, Eliza Badoiu, Juta Jazz and Susan…

What does Brexit mean for love? A Portraiture Series by Laura Pannack ‘Separation’ with Affinity Photo App
I am delighted to publish this incredible series of portraiture by Laura Pannack a London-based photographer. The series was commissioned by British Journal of Photography and created with Affinity Photo, a professional editing software app for iPad. Affinity Photo, Apple’s official iPad App of the Year 2017, was used by Pannack throughout the Separation photo shoot. “To have something so versatile and so advanced on an iPad is astounding,” says Pannack. “Because the editing is incredibly quick, we could try different things out.” Each portrait is accompanied by candid reflections from each couple detailing how Brexit has personally affected their relationship. The couples that feature in Separation are all of…

BJP – Obituary: Frank Selby, co-founder of Rex Features, 1918-2018
An interesting obituary in the British Journal of Photography this week, dedicated to Frank Selby co-founder of Rex Features, I found particularly interesting. During the rise of Rex Features, I was employed by London Features International in 1989, a paparazzi photo agency with offices based in London and New York and a competitor to Rex Features. We offered the same service to newspapers and magazines. It was a good time in my life, extremely busy, stimulating with a long line of friends and VIP’s. RIP Frank Selby.
