    ‘Impossible’ Interview with Penny Felts

    2014-03-26 / 1 Comment

We’re delighted to be working closer with The Impossible Project team as we continue to branch out and expand our reach with all things related to mobile photography. Analog post-processing of mobile images is becoming more and more popular and we’re going to make sure our readers are fully briefed on this very exciting development. The Impossible Project is in many ways leading the way, but there is also a growing community of mobile artists and photographers experimenting with other analog post processing techniques in an attempt to make their mobile images stand out even more, in galleries, magazines and the like and we have viewed some outstanding images and…

Vintage Scene Photography App Now Available for Android

2014-03-26 / Comments Off on Vintage Scene Photography App Now Available for Android

Vintage Scene by JixiPix has long been a very popular app on the iOS system and we’re really pleased to see it port over to Android today. It offers the mobile photographer the opportunity to give their images a retro look, using a unique algorithm which combines, sepia tone, grain, darkened edges, distressed paper all at once. Along with that though, it gives the user control to edit each component for their individual look. Vintage Scene is available at Google Play for £1.19 or equivalent in your country and you can download it here.

iOS Photography App – Camera Plus Updated with ‘AirSnap’

2014-03-25 / Comments Off on iOS Photography App – Camera Plus Updated with ‘AirSnap’

Camera Plus is a popular app for iPhone photography, not as popular as Camera+ but it has its own standing. It has just been updated with a very interesting feature called ‘AirSnap’. Essentially AirSnap enables you to turn your iOS device (Phone, iPad, Touch, running iOS 7) into a remote control for another iOS device. It works via Bluetooth or WiFi, one device acts as the lead camera and the other as the remote. This is an interesting proposition to be added to a camera app, there are plenty of trigger modules but none like this. This is a free update, if you have previously purchased Camera Plus. If not…

2014-03-22 / Comments Off on Tickle Your Fancy – #30

Welcome back to our thirtieth post in our new section ‘Tickle Your Fancy’. ‘Tickle Your Fancy’ includes a round-up of five links to articles from around the internet that have specifically interested us during the course of the week. Ones that we feel are relevant to your interest in photography and art. Just to explain the title for this section ‘Tickle Your Fancy’ is an English idiom and essentially means that something appeals to you and perhaps stimulates your imagination in an enthusiastic way, we felt it would make a great title for this new section of the site. We hope you enjoy this weeks’ selections…   Fashion Magazine Shoots…

X-Rite Launches Free ColorTRUE App – Colour Calibrate your Mobile Device

2014-03-21 / Comments Off on X-Rite Launches Free ColorTRUE App – Colour Calibrate your Mobile Device

Thank you to Kevin Carter for bringing this to my attention. Kevin previously reviewed the DataColor app that’s very similar to this for The British Journal of Photography (BJP). ColorTRUE creates a custom display profile for iOS and Android mobile devices using a supported X-Rite measurement device. The user simply places the connected device on the tablet or phone when prompted and the measurement process begins automatically. The profile is applied to all images displayed through the ColorTRUE Image Gallery, providing the user with the most accurate color match to a desktop reference monitor, or other color managed monitors. Steve Rankin, Product Manager, at X-Rite, commented: “While iOS and Android…

reShoot Turns Novices into Savvy Video Storytellers with launch of Free iOS app

2014-03-21 / Comments Off on reShoot Turns Novices into Savvy Video Storytellers with launch of Free iOS app

Wally World Media, Inc. proudly announces the release of reShoot for iPhone and iPad, a free video app that delivers a comprehensive solution for people looking for a simple but powerful video creation tool. The app centers around two core ideas — mobile video projects should be open-ended, as opposed to collecting bunches of unsorted mini-clips; and quick fixes to videos should be straightforward and painless. reShoot’s “open-ended” feature allows users to return to a reShoot project and add new footage with automatic clip-stitching. This feature allows users to tell longer form stories without needing to splice together bunches of short video clips, after-the-fact. The user-friendly functionality gives even the…

Truth and Memory – British Art of the First World War

2014-03-21 / Comments Off on Truth and Memory – British Art of the First World War

This looks like a fabulous exhibition that we have just received details of directly from The Imperial War Museum London (IWP). IWM London presents the largest exhibition of British First World War art for almost 100 years. This major retrospective comprises over 120 artworks and will feature the most iconic images to emerge from the First World War, including paintings by Paul Nash, Percy Wyndham Lewis, CWR Nevinson, Stanley Spencer and William Orpen, as well as lesser known, yet significant works, by artists such as Anna Airy, George Clausen and Gilbert Rogers. This exhibition will run from 19 July 2014 – 8 March 2015 with free admission. Please note, IWM…
