Mobile Photography – TrueView Interview – ‘Why I create Self Portraiture’ with Jeffrey Simpson from Fryeburg, Maine, United States
Our TrueView Interview section is an area where we ask one singular question, to mobile photographers and artists and it is captured to video. This time, we asked highly accomplished Mobile Photographer and Artist, Jeffrey Simpson from Fryeburg, Maine, US to consider and answer ‘why I create self portraiture with my smartphone’. It is an interesting question to ponder, there are over 1.8 billion photos shared around the internet each day, many of these are selfies. The difference, we feel in our questioning is that we are asking artists. Therefore, do artists take self portraits because it gives them the opportunity to view themselves from the outside? That a considerable…

Mobile Photography & Art Flickr Group Showcase – 10 September 2017
As I created this weeks Mobile Photography and Art Flickr Group showcase, Orfeo et Eurydice: Melodie for Piano Solo performed by James Rhodes played and soothed me, this beautiful rendition will likely reduce you to tears. Rhodes is a highly accomplished concert pianist and a man whose personal memoir is so raw and harrowing that the court of appeal initially prevented him from publishing it, the ban was lifted and his book ‘Instrumental: A Memoir of Madness, Medication and Music‘ which includes a Spotify playlist, is a heartbreakingly difficult read. Music saved Rhodes and he makes no bones about it. ‘Plot 29‘ by Allan Jenkins, Observer Food Monthly editor is…

Mobile Photography & Art Flickr Group Showcase – 3 September 2017
“Individuals often withhold help because they are uncertain about whether beneficiaries will appreciate their assistance. Expressions of gratitude can signify that a beneficiary values, needs, and accepts one’s assistance. Previous research has shown that grateful feelings enable people to savour positive experiences, cope with stress, and strengthen social relationships. A disposition toward gratitude is also associated with higher levels of subjective well-being, demonstrating that counting one’s blessings can increase positive emotions and health”, Francis Flynn, Professor of Organisational Behaviour at Stanford. Appreciation is one of life’s great motivators, when we take the time to let people know that we value them, it naturally inspires them to continue doing even more.…
