    Mobile Photography & Art – Flickr/Instagram Group Showcase – 17 February 2019

    2019-02-17 / Comments Off on Mobile Photography & Art – Flickr/Instagram Group Showcase – 17 February 2019

When my eldest son was at boarding school, there was the most incredible sensory garden for all the children to enjoy, it was an empowering experience and helped many of the children to blossom. A sensory garden has the ability in many ways to become a sensory room. If you’re not familiar with the umbrella term ‘sensory room’ they are essentially rooms, with special lighting, music and objects, a therapeutic place, one of safety in which to deescalate experiences and promote self care, resilience and recovery.  When we view art, it’s important to use all five senses too, as much as possible, to not just look and move on but…

What is remarkable about your vision, as mobile artists, is that it remains intensely human rooted in common experience, replete with doubt, frustration but also conjoined with belief and certainity. Characteristics demonstrative of our obsession with this new medium. As your journey through this weeks showcase to the centre of the lyrical and artist narrative, your destination alludes to the ultimate climax and is swiftly tempered by the safety of its harbour. This showcase is at the frontier of the world of mobile photography and art. Enjoy! Thank you to all artists for submitting your works. Welcome back to our sixty first post in our Tickle Your Fancy section. ‘Tickle Your Fancy’ includes a round-up of between seven to eight links to articles from around TheAppWhisperer over the past few week, that you may by chance have missed. Please note, I’ve been a little unwell this week, so have not published as much as I wanted to. Just to explain the title for this section Tickle Your Fancy is an English idiom and essentially means that something appeals to you and perhaps stimulates your imagination in an enthusiastic way, we felt it would make a great title for this new section of the site. Artists cited include,…

    Mobile Photography & Art – Flickr Group Showcase – 25 November 2018

    2018-11-25 / Comments Off on Mobile Photography & Art – Flickr Group Showcase – 25 November 2018

“I knew how tight everything was, especially the loss of twenty minutes and I asked the Queen if she would remove the tiara. (I used the word ‘crown’, which was a faux pas). I suggested that a less dressy look might be better. And she said ‘Less dressy!’ What do you think this is?”. A quote from a book that I have been carrying around all week, sent to me personally by my dear colleague at the publishers, Phaidon. ‘Annie Leibovitz At Work’ is a revised and updated edition of the original book of 2008 and I just adore it. It offers more than a glimpse behind the scenes of…

    2018-11-18 / Comments Off on Mobile Photography & Art – Flickr Group Showcase – 18 November 2018

I believe there’s now a universal dilemma we suffer, that feels like a personal problem. We all have so many friends, just look on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, they’re all there but yet so many of us wander ‘lonely as a cloud’ and feel disconnected from our species. I believe it’s important not to collect friends, like trophies but truly value the ones that enhance our lives, bring smiles to our faces and warmth to our hearts. We know that none of our relationships are fixed in perpetuity, letting people go, is as important as keeping them close. But when they leave us, as their lives end, it’s hard to keep…

    Mobile Photography & Art – Flickr Group Showcase – 4 October 2018

    2018-11-04 / 1 Comment

Mobile photography has capsulated self portraiture, or selfies as they are known. The paradox at the heart of selfies is that they masquerade as a candid shot but in reality they are posed and often heavily edited. But at least for the younger audience, looking good, is not good enough, you need to look good in extreme scenarios. There’s a blurring between the lines of reality and fantasy, until they collapse into one another. Such was the case this…
