Streets Ahead – Fourteenth Edition
Welcome to the fourteenth edition of Streets Ahead, a weekly column dedicated to women mobile street photographers. Each week we have a curator review all of the work submitted to our Flickr group, and present a few of their favorite shots along with some thoughtful commentary about the technique, composition, subject matter, and a short description of why they thought each photo was special. We also present a sampling of all the work submitted in a showcase video. We select all the images for the column from the Streets Ahead Flickr group. This week we are extremely pleased to feature Jeanette Vazquez in our interview segment of “Streets Ahead.” I was really happy when Jeanette agreed to do this interview… because I’ve been following her photography for several months now. And what I admire most about her work is that, at first glance, I think I am seeing just a simple ordinary candid shot. But when I pause and look more closely. I inevitably find myself discovering more layers. Streets Ahead Interview: Cara Gallardo Weil
This week we are extremely honored to feature Cara Gallardo Weil in this segment of “Streets Ahead.” We previously interviewed Cara in our A Day In The Life Of Interview, see here. Cara is a Graphic Designer and amateur photographer with a passion for mobile photography. Born in Hong Kong to Filipino parents who moved there in the early 60s to work in publishing, her early life was spent in Hong Kong, Singapore and the Philippines. She studied graphic design in London and spent more than 20 years here before returning to Hong Kong, where she currently resides. Cara brings to her street photography a wonderful international and cultural perspective.…
