Mobile Art and Photography That Has Influenced Me – Interview with Rita Colantonio from Massachusetts, United States

I love the complexity and  and expert layering of textures in this piece by Catherine Schell Caddigan (@catherinecaddigan). The  intimate viewpoint draws me in to her eyes and her soul. It has an immediacy, speaks to me of a story somewhere, in your face, look at me!

This image by Cargan Brown (@carganbrown) prompted me to reconsider my photography goals. I began to look at different ways of image making. I put down my DSLR and purchased an iPad! I wanted to become a digital artist!

This image by Saul Landell (@saul_landell) is provoking something in my subconscious that is indescribable. The surrealistic qualities, uneasy presence and sacredness give it power. It transcends any reality I am aware of, a glimpse of a world known only to him.

Any work by Marc Chagall, Matisse or Cezanne have influenced my art for many years. I particularly like the whimsical quality of this painting by Chagall. I have recently begun to incorporate his style of composition in my work.

I recently discovered this image on Instagram looking through Anca Balaj’s (@anca.balaj) gallery. I am entranced by her minimalist surrealistic interpretations that have a childlike quality to them. I’m glad I saw this, as it will inspire me for sure.

I regarded Maggie Taylor’s (@maggietaylor.art) images as an open door for me to experiment with unexpected elements, spatial planes, vintage photographs and beautiful textures. I could look at her images for hours. She creates a magical place for me to wander and she has absolutely influenced my art.

I love all of Oola Cristina’s (@oolacristina) images, from her soft, pure botanicals to her playful, surrealistic whimsical images. I especially like her storylike concoctions; they always make me smile!

I don’t know how recent this image by Lorenka Campos is but I have just discovered it. I love her art. This image is almost too difficult to take in. It speaks of utter loneliness, but also of inner strength. There is a strong spiritual quality here.

The beautiful art by Alexis Rotella (@tankaqueen) is pure eye candy for me. I get lost in her brushstrokes and inventive use of textures. Her use of soft and muted color is so intriguing and she is a master of composition and layering! Truly inspiring!

Many or Julie Denning’s (@hedgehogstudio) beautiful art would qualify as a gift for someone  or even myself! They are infused with gentleness, love, emotion and subtle loveliness. I love her use of texture and folk art ambiance. I would definitely send this one to someone I care for.
