Apple Shot on iPhone Challenge – The 2019 Winners – Announced
iPhone photographers around the world shared their best photos for Apple’s Shot on iPhone Challenge, capturing remarkable moments with the world’s most popular camera. The 10 selected winners will be featured on billboards in select cities, in Apple retail stores and online. The winning shots came from a range of models, from iPhone XS Max to iPhone 7, showcasing the quality of cameras across the line. The top 10 winners came from countries including Singapore, Germany, Belarus, Israel and the US, highlighting the global community of iPhone photographers that participated. Sony World Photography Awards reveal stunning shortlist for 2019 Open and Youth competitions
The World Photography Organisation today reveals the shortlisted photographers for the Open and Youth competitions of the 2019 Sony World Photography Awards, recognising the world’s best single images from 2018. As one of the world’s largest and most prestigious global photography competitions, the Awards annually celebrate and promote the best contemporary photography from the past year across a wide variety of photographic genres. Over 326,000 entries were submitted across the four competitions of the 2019 Awards, the highest ever number to date. Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year – Deadline Approaching – Mobile Photography Category
The Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year competition is one of my annual highlights and this year, I am on the advisory panel of judges as well as being a media partner. There are many categories to enter but of course, hands down, our favourite is the Mobile Photography section. It costs £6 to enter, per image and £2 of that will go to Action Against Hunger (registered charity). Apple Agrees to Compensate Winners of ‘Shot on iPhone Competition’
Many of the Mobile Photographers within TheAppWhisperer community have not only submitted their images to Apple’s ‘Shot on iPhone Competition’ but have also won and their photographs have graced billboards around the world in earlier years. Apple has faced criticism though for not compensating winners, suggesting perhaps that they felt exposure should be enough. However, Apple have now backtracked and will compensate winners with licensing fees. A direct quote from Apple reads: “Apple believes strongly that artists should be compensated for their work. Photographers who shoot the final 10 winning photos will receive a licensing fee for use of such photos on billboards and other Apple marketing channels”. The contest…

MIRA Mobile Prize Black & White 2019 Competition Now Open For Entries
We are delighted to announce the MIRA Mobile Prize Black & White Competition is now open for entries. This is a free to enter competition with three images per photographer being permitted. The Jury consists of four globally awarded and/or recognised with merit for their photography and specifially their mobile photography, artists. These include Brendan O Se, Armineh Hovanesian, Jacinto Lara and Claudia Conteras. The winner of this competition will enjoy a week in Porto, Portugal (from any European country) with accomodation. 12th Julia Margaret Cameron Award – Results Announced
The Photography Gala Awards, with the sponsorship of the Biennial of Fine Art & Documentary Photography invited women photographers worldwide to submit images to the Twelfth Edition of The Julia Margaret Cameron Award. This Award is open to women photographers working in all mediums, styles and schools of thought. Traditional, contemporary, avant-garde, creative and experimental works that include old and new processes, mixed techniques, and challenging personal, emotional or political statements are welcomed. As an Editor for LensCulture as well as a member of the International Press I am happy to publish the results of the LensCulture Art Photography Awards 2018, now that the embargo has passed. These Awards were LensCulture’s very first Art Photography Awards and they were eager to see a wide range of creativity from people in diverse cultures around the world.
