I am very excited about this weeks Saturday Poetry, matched with mobile photography/art, precisely because I am so delighted that Simon Armitage has been named the UK’s poet laureate this week. He is such a scintillating choice, born very much without a silver spoon, Amitage was born in West Yorkshire and is a former probation officer. He received a phone call from Prime Minster Theresa May on Thursday, just gone, offering him the position. Isabel Afonso is a major talent by most if not all standards of mobile photography and art and the creator of some of the most stunning images in the history of this medium. Anyone, fortunate enough to view Afonso’s work will find them among the most beautiful physical entities mobile photography and art, can produce. I have studied her work and ethos for some time and it was this image that she tagged to #theappwhisperer on Instagram today that convinced me to formally invite her to our Online Gallery, I hope she accepts our invitation.
