Instagram TAKEOVER with Mark Fearnley @mark.fearnley from London – Days 1 – 7 – As He Leaves Us…
I personally asked London based mobile street photographer, Mark Fearnley to take over our Instagram account for seven days because he’s what I would describe as ‘a hardcore street photographer’. Fearnley’s street photography illustrates ideas, his deployment of the art, on the fertile ground he finds in London, represents the vibrant period that street photography is receiving here in Britain today. This body of work demonstrates a purity of vision, as he works in a typically British, understated way. He doesn’t intrude, so much as observe his subjects, operating on a peripheral borderland. His style of street photography is the polar opposite of street photographer Helen Levitt, not least that…

Mobile Photography & Art – Tip of the Day – Tell Siri To Fire The Shutter Button
We are re-igniting our Tip of the Day section and we have a great one here that’s going to be of huge use to many photographers and to my mind it’s a feature that ought to be written into camera firmware too. Siri, up and until now, has not been able to handle the prospect of literally firing the shutter button. It was possible to tell Siri to open the camera but not to fire the button but now there is a way! You’re going to need the Halide app for this. If you haven’t already downloaded it, I recommend that you do so. Just click here and then follow…
Mobile Photography & Art – Portrait of an Artist – Seeing Through The Eyes Of Tuba Korhan
We are delighted to bring to you the seventh in our brand new series of interviews within our Portrait of an Artist column entitled “Seeing through the eyes…”. This is a section that has been created by our wonderful Portrait of an Artist Editor, Ile Mont. Mont has been inspired by the life and works of Carolyn Hall Young, as so many of us have. Young was the main contributor to our Portrait of an Artist Flickr pool and filled it with portraits of so many wonderful people, not only of herself. It is for this reason that Mont wanted to create this section, to enable us to view the…
‘Wide Awoke’- Are Female Artists Worth Collecting? with Fleur Schim from Florida, United States
Several weeks ago, we announced our brand new ‘Women’ section within TheAppWhisperer and we kicked off with our first ‘Talking Points’ with the incredibly talented mobile artist, M. Cecilia Sao Thiago, where she visually channeled the creative argument of ‘what if I wasn’t me?’, envisaging herself as an artist whilst physically being a male, as opposed to female. Catherine Caddigan another accomplised aritst also contributed with a great ‘Talking Points’ entitled ‘What do we reveal to the camera’. We followed that up with a fabuolus insightful video from Susan Detroy, with her perspective vis-Ã-vis the women’s movement, using her own self portraiture work and ethos. Successively we published the first…
Instagram TAKEOVER with Ocean Morisset @oceanstide – Days 4 – 7 – As He Leaves Us…
For the past week Ocean Morisset – @oceanstide has been publishing three of his images each day to our Instagram feed and it’s been winsome. I personally asked mobile street photographer, Morisset to take over our Instagram account for seven days because he’s distinguished himself through sheer range. Morisset’s photography is never staged and I would venture, each image is captured in an instant. Perfectly balanced compositions are undoubtedly Morisset’s greatest strength and perhaps what I find most remarkable is the ability, he has, to establish immediate connections with his subjects, no matter how transient the encounter. Morisset’s street photography is as far away from clinical cold street photography as…
